Hopefully! I've to drive home from Dublin to Rathdrum later and the thoughts of some of the Rathnew - Rathdrum stretches covered in snow gives me anxiety :p

I nearly said that the closest it'll come is Rathdrum which might get a good bit! Hope you get back before any of that happens.

Still only 100m above sea level so might escape some of the worst. Remains to be seen. Worst case scenario I have new snow socks in the boot that should see me home anyway.

11.2mm of rain recorded in Waterford City. Its been very windy at times with a Max gust of 67km/h at my station. Temp peaked at 5.7c at 08.13 and is currently 4.8c. An interesting evening ahead maybe.

Cold and wet day here in Limerick. There is a fair amount of surface water around now which is going to be great fun after dark when it starts freezing over.

MET rainfall radar has the low starting to turn a bit, east coast might get some precip (rain?) further north.

Raintoday showing rain above me right now but not a drop to be seen (Drogheda).

Raining now in Athenry. Also quite windy. What would be called a "miserable day"

Intermitent hail/snow at the moment near DUB airport. It has turned a good bit in the last hour. There is no rain falling now. But still a way to go to anything meaningful.

Nowt but drizzle falling out of the sky in my part of D9. Localised weather for ya!

Hi-res precip charts not inspiring much confidence in this evening for anything heavy in Dublin. Very light stuff. The dream of the front intensifying later is all but gone for these parts. Better further south.

Let's hope for a few surprises in the next few hours.

Ooh hopefully we get some surprises in cork city tonight them. Last year was "eastern cork/Munster" as well and we still managed to get some white gold. Rebelbrowser/igcorcaigh will ye be lampost watching with me? :P

Hopefully precipitation will be more snow from now on as the low pivots. I think we are goosed in Dublin, but there is hope for inland Leinster and Munster. It is just a question of the intensity of precipitation now for everyone.

The South East looks like prime position to be later judging by the hi res and met eireann forecast.

 Waiting to collect someone at DUB airport and there hasn't been any hail or snow in the last hour I've been here.

Woke up this morning (Gorey) and looked out window. Delighted to see road was clear.

My 10 year old self would've been so disappointed in me.

Certainly keeping an eye out later. Last year though was a different set up with streamers coming at us from the East North East on the perfect trajectory to hog the coastline and dump their load on the PROC. This time, if temps/dew points/etc are right, we still need precipitation exiting the country on a NW to SE trajectory to just stay a bit further west on exiting our Island than models currently show. Very possible but every mile east you go will help (eg. Youghal has a better chance than Midleton which has a better chance than Cork city, etc).

Sure will. Just hoping the temps drop so that anything that falls will stick.

Has there been any updates on today or tonight? Iv been hearing experts on here saying things would be more clear in this mornings models had there been any upgrade or downgrade.
