    Great !
A thread where we can make fun out of Christians! Good thing it's not Muslim preachers on the streets, otherwise we would have to say how great and diverse it is and how anyone critical is a racist!

Actually the Muslims have a stand now outside the GPO.

Actually the Muslims have a stand now outside the GPO.

They've a stand in Galway too on shop street.

Funniest moment I can remember was when someone with one of those guy's who was wearing an atheist ireland t-shirt came over to talk to him.

The atheist guy's were looking for people to sign a petition about catholism and schools or something.
They all get along, same as the Christian guy Phillip in Galway, he goes to get coffee, then the Islamic guys watch his stand.
He brings back coffee for every one...

The banter and craic there is good sometimes.

At least they just stand there, they don't have a microphone shouting at people as they pass by

There is a guy in work is one of these, he works, breaks but preaches or hands out leaflets and goes back working.

    What's a born again Christian?

A person with mental issues far greater than that of the average God botherer.
The fact that we take any of these people seriously instead of sending them for counseling is the question.

I use to hate when they would keep calling to a house I was renting.

I had no time for it and they really were annoying.

Yes atheists have aligned themselves with Islamists - it's very worrying, their hatred for the catholic church is so savage they allign themselves with the most bigoted ideology on Earth.
Just have a look at the atheism forum - some lunatics over there.

Well , I saw one guy frothing at the mouth trying to convince some teenager that Islam was the only way.
    Total fundamentalist.
The leftist progressive morons were looking on thinking how woke this is !
Even the gay lads - Turkeys voting for Christmas.

Two groups of people being civil to each other. What has the world come to.

    The worst kind.

I would have said the only kind of Christian....the rest are just religious people. Like saying being born in McDonald's makes me a big Mac.

Saying that some of what goes on in the name of Christianity is embarrassing....and no I never struggled to find meaning to my life despite an earlier definition :)

Except that they aren't civil to Christians, they will just sneer at them ..

I think they're talking about the school's having less influence from the Catholic church, nothing to do with ganging up on anyone.

To be accurate Atheist Ireland, not atheists in general, have aligned with the Evangelical Alliance, and specifically the Ahmadi Muslims - off the back of one _single issue_ related to the discrimination in school access for minorities.
Except that they aren't civil to Christians, they will just sneer at them ..

Well as I just said when they united in this single issue - they united with an Islamic group _and_ a Christian group. So - yea not sure you are painting a good faith picture here of what has happened there.

    There's lunatics everywhere.

I don't know any atheists who hate the Catholic church, but I suppose some are recovering from the damage the church did to people and society over the years.

Do you have something against atheists ?

Isn't love thy neighbour somewhere in the Catholic doctorine.

I don't know much about Christianity or Atheism myself.
I don't join their debate's or delve much into the whole God thing.

I know nothing about it,so I've no business going there.

    Who approached who I wonder?

I've had verbals with a few of them but it's always been instigated by me. Never had anyone try and coerce me into a conversion apart from the Scientology nutters.

In relation to what people say and claim about themselves and their faith there is no better method of discerning than " you will know them by their fruit". So anyone believing there's one good God who is love and in the same time doing something that is repulsive and evil, you know then, this is one rotten fruit, don't eat it

What is this "I found Jesus" bit? ......was He lost?

Have a loud neighbour who ends every sentence with "Praise the Lord!"
...all I can think is 'please do it elsewhere'
I was walking through Dublin city center with a friend and we were approached by one of those evangelical lads asking if we had found Jesus.

Yer man just replied 'Jaysus, I didn't even know he was missing' without missing a beat and stayed walking on:D

Which is fine! So long as he stops telling you about it :) Let the fekkor build a shrine to your eternal well being in his basement for all you care - once he keeps his gob shut about it :)

Kind of goes against the whole spreading the message idea though, doesn't it.

Don't see many people making fun of Christians, apart from the odd ridiculous atheist remark, which is best ignored.

Nutters? Scientology is the fastest growing religion in Ireland and the world(*).

    * If you use square footage of Ideal Org as the metric.

I notice in several cities of late these preacher types with microphones and a bible mixing typical Jesus loves you/be saved from sin with political and social issues. Typically, they would condemn the Irish government, Donald Trump, the Catholic Church and mix it up with Christ. Sometimes, they do busking as well as preaching. Who are they?

I find it fascinating that in America it's supposed Christians that are supporting Trump.

They love him because he pretends to be a Christian. Mike Pence is a devout Christian. Also, Reagan made a promise to promote their values when he ran and they've sided with the Republican candidate ever since anyway. His pro-Israeli, anti-LGBT and anti-abortion stances would be a big winner with them also.

I don't think trump has ever pretended to be a Christian.

Why the American evangelicals love him is a mystery but then being American goes a long way to explaining it.

They love him because he wasnt Hillary Clinton.

American Pentecostals and Evangelicals have always been a strange lot.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

I don't think trump has ever pretended to be a Christian.

He was asked what his favourite book was. He replied "the Bible". The interviewer asked what his favourite passage was, he quickly replied "all of it" to disguise the fact that he probably couldn't tell a Bible quote from a line in Lord of the Rings.

Really, what about 'I brought my bible' and 'In America we don't worship government, we worship God', speeches? He certainly pretended to be one during the campaign.

And he obviously doesn't believe in love thy neighbour as thyself.

Have you thought about asking them who they are ?

This might free up space in AH for our usual inane threads.

On a lighter note , I work with a born again Christian who gets prophetic dreams that she draws out the following morning with crayons

So far I can expect to be guided to safety by two ostriches and a giraffe/person according to her.

Less of the putdowns. I merely asked a bloody question, not accused this preacher of being right or wrong. This is the problem with this site, ain't it. Bullies and more bullies and no one can answer a freaking question!
