    I'd wager there is a large majority of the traveling public that wouldn't even notice.

    The romantic notion of "Irishness" that surrounds Aer Lingus is dying out - thankfully. It's a commercial entity who's sole purpose is to extract as much profit from pax as possible. It's no different than any other airline.

    I like it.
    The tilt in the shamrock certainly gives it a tremendous impression of dynamism and speed, and that is the overwhelming take from this restyling. It certainly has the air of a modern livery with a great future, and the rather dusty and slower moving, and static looks very archaic by comparison - very pre Celtic Tiger really, and rather backward when compared side by side with the new one.

    Meanwhile the one beside the writing must have beenfed viagra or something.

    I just can't get over the shamrocks in different directions. It looks almost like a mistake. That aside, it is what it is and I like the teal.

    Watched the launch , my god the spiel and nonsense they came out with was ridiculous and then came the anti climax when a big white tube was unveiled.

    We'll get used to it, we always do and it could have been worse... I suppose.

    I think on the a320 it looks much better than the a330.

    I agree with you, what was wrong with the current colours, I don't like the new look or lick of paint, no matter what the sales and marketing folks say.

    Its bland.

    Follows the majority of Airlines liveries these days, all white fuselage & a splash of colour on the tail.

    It's all a watering down of the brand.
    It probably suits modern airline activities.
    Would the average passenger notice that they were not on an aerlingus branded plane under old livery, I would assume they would.
    With this livery, most will just see a while plane.

    Air France takes it to the ultimate extreme. Almost entirely white with a few lines of colour on the tail.

    It's fresh and modern and the shamrock logo is still prominent as it should be (and a nice modern take on it)
    I like.

    It looks fine on the left hand side, both shamrocks aligned. It’s the right hand side where it goes awry.
    There’s probably some marketing idea about the title having to have the “correct shamrock” alongside it.

    I’m intrigued by the PR graphic with a pointer to “a shamrock on the door showing the warmth of an Irish welcome” I don’t think I’ve ever boarded an aircraft and glanced to my left to check out the door.

    I understand that companies need to rebrand and freshen things up a bit every once in awhile and I was interested to see what Aer Lingus would come up with.

    But the most disappointing thing about this new livery is that they literally handed a shed load of cash to some American company who came up with a livery that a 5 year old could conjure up in 30 seconds on a free airplane livery app on their phone.

    Literally going from being one of the most recognizable airlines out there to just another one of the crowd

    It's not that bad looking, really....BUT a few thoughts.

    If it was a Ryanair repaint I'm pretty sure that not a single one of its 130m+ passengers would care one iota.

    Because it's Aer Lingus, the former National Airline with its emphasis on green, there are a few different opinions. The die-hards are upset and I can fully understand that. I mean how would Man U fans react if their strip was changed to a dark shade of orange?

    Another minority might have a lesser sentimental regret but everyone else probably couldn't care less.

    The move away from green (for Ireland) with only a tiny presence and replacement by blue (for ?) is, perhaps, the beginning of changes to come. How many years now since the IAG sale was done?

    Anyone who thinks that that blue is green, then I hope they don't drive a vehicle, cycle or cross roads.

    The video of the BS at the unveiling ceremony will definitely be nominated at this year's Razzies.

    One final thought. For an airline promoting its seamless hub connection identity the disconnected leaves of the shamrock may not be a good choice.

    Yes but along with Alitalia and UTA they pioneered the move to Eurowhite back in the mid 1970's.

    When you see the quality of Lufthansa's recent rebrand this becomes even more disappointing.

    Maybe it'll be a grower. But a good rebrand should always make the one it replaced look outdated almost instantly. This happened in 96.

    I think tweaking the previous shamrock rather than a redesign would have gone someway to keep a bit more equity.

    I guess we'll see. But I'll miss seeing the green bird when I'm in a foreign airport.

    It's a shame. Hopefully it's just the shock of the new but all they needed to do was a "KLM" on it.

    Yeah, I'm a filthy heathen northerner but even I had a warm, reassuring feeling when turning-up to the O'Hare gate and seeing the greentop ready to take us homewards. Whereas this white tube just says to me 'generic interchangeable airline', I mean they could swap-in a Level or HiFly A330 and most passengers wouldn't notice. Perhaps they should have renamed themselves to IAG Airline Unit 2 whilst they were at it.

    I'm struggling to think of another brand that so brutally trashed its visual identity. Perhaps Philip Morris -> Altria, but that was to get away from the negative image of nicotine!

    There are plenty of brands that have trashed their visual identity but this one actually means something to us.

    Off the top of my head the last 2 that completely ruined the selves were Juventus and The Chicago Tribune (Google TRONC).

    But there's loads. There's fewer examples of a company nailing it but Eir's rebrand, Google and LH are examples of "nailing it".

    I quite like the shamrock and the new colour scheme but there's just not enough of it, they should have found away to carry the new paint scheme further forward, there's just too much white on there.
    It's basically a direct lift of the Qantas livery and while white airframes might look nice in the sun they don't work as well in this part of the world with our weather.
    It's a bit like the proliferation of white cars that have appeared on our roads in recent years, they look smart when they're spotlessly clean but they're impossible to keep clean so mostly end up looking a bit meh...

    I've been having a look trough Irish media today and cant find much regarding the rebrand. There is an article on RTE but I've not managed to find anything else regarding it, I would have expected it to be bigger news.

    From what I can tell on social media, its not been well received.

    I think this may be a grower but first impressions are that while it is a fresh re-design, it is lacking is gravitas befitting a flag carrier.

    The Shamrock looks cartoonish to me, and if our national carrier where to launch budget sub brand, this is how I would expect it to look.
