I remember growing up, everyone always used to say "wait until you're 21 and your insurance will drop significantly". Then it increased to wait until you're 23, 25, and so on. I'm dreading my renewal, I'm paying a grand at the moment but from shopping around it's looking like it'll be around 13-1400 at least.

Nope, but an 07 3 series when you're under the age of 25 (even with 4 years NCB) is impossible to insure.

    I’m glad I’m old

That's pretty much how capitalism works, right? They charge what the market will pay. Not what the product is worth. E.g. avocados are extortionately expensive in California despite being grown down the road.

I'd say the fact that I'm required to have insurance removes this debate from the realm of pure capitalism.

I'm paying nearly double what I was paying 2-3 years ago for a moderate family car. No accidents no points.

    It's a sham.

I'm watching Modern Family here. Aside from the fact that it's very good, Sofia Vergara is 46.
    Good lord jesus.

Every time renewal comes up I feel like I'm shopping around for who is going to take the least advantage of me as opposed to where I can get a good deal.

    Lie.

Not about your details, but about how much others are quoting you. They'll usually come close to your untrue figure, but better than anything else you'll get. Particularly your current insurer who want to keep your business.

Wouldn't be a chargers game without sitting on the edge of your chair sweating for the final couple of drives

    The Bears. Heartattack offense.

Bears fans get a taste of Ireland vs NZ 2013. A complete sickener.

Play a guy with a 76% success rate from FGs, it's going to come back to bite you. Some teams would have moved on from him during the season. He was 73% on FGs from 30-50 yards.

But the Bears didn't lose because of him. Their offence was dogsh*t in the opening half. I see Trubisky getting a lot of plaudits for his play late on but he couldn't get anything going at all in the first half. The playcalling and offence overall were poor though. It's a shame given how hard their defence has worked for them this season.

I was convinced one of the Seahawks, Ravens or Bears would be making it to a Championship game. All one score losses. A couple of cracking games lined up for next week though. All of a sudden starting to look like the annual Patriots invitational game in early February is on the cards again.

The Bears gave Parkey a big free agent deal so that's what kept him on the roster. His salary is guaranteed for next season too but they'll have to cut him now. It's a pity as their free agent signings were fantastic otherwise. Allen Robinson looks close to his best.

The Chargers have a great opportunity to win in Foxboro. They're the Mayo of the NFL so they made difficult work of the Ravens but they look like a great team.

I enjoy a good defensive slugfest, but the Bears - Eagles first half didn't really seem like a defensive slugfest. It seemed more like terrible, terrible offence.

The Chiefs Indy game could be pretty mental. Divisional Weekend is always the best.

And it's the prime watching slot for those in Europe i.e. Saturday night. I can't see the Colts stopping them. Their secondary is good but I don't think it's good enough to shut down Mahomes.

The offence was poor on both sides last night. A lot of 3 and out plays. The media narrative of Foles being the playoff guru continues but he wasn't good.

It's going to be interesting to see it pan out. The Eagles are hitting some luck/form at the right time. Since the Saints obliterated them in November, they've won 6 of their last 7 including games against the Bears, Rams and Texans. That was also the last time the Saints offence put on a show. Since then, they've been very patchy.

Why doesn't every NFL team have a washed out centre who couldn't make it in the NBA just for critical field goal attempts? If they can have a specialist long snapper, they can have a specialist field goal blocker.

I remember the Broncos brining out Osweiler a couple of years ago to try and block a late kick because he was the tallest player on the team.

You need to be able to get close enough to get a finger on it. Being 7ft tall will be little use if you don't have the explosive power to get those extra couple of feet closer to the ball and push into the line in front of you.

    Colts @ Chiefs
    Cowboys @ Rams
    Chargers @ Patriots
    Eagles @ Saints

The Chargers have the best chance of a road win IMO. Their offense had dodgy moments but the Baltimore defense is far superior to the Patriots. Gronkowski looks finished as well and he's the go-to in tough spots.

Julian Edelman all the way for the safety blanket. If it wasn't for his suspension, he was on course for his biggest ever season and is going to be the key man for the Patriots although who the hell knows with them. With the Chargers secondary, I can see Michel and White having important games.

The Chargers haven't lost a game outside of LA this season but I don't see them having enough to beat the Patriots in Boston. Their offence has been pretty poor in recent weeks even allowing for the fact they've faced the Ravens twice and Broncos. One TD pass from Rivers and he hasn't thrown for 200 yards in three consecutive games. They'll need to get their game together and fast.

Is lineout style lifting outlawed in NFL? :D
