Well while I might not change your opinion on the matter I can certainly change the claim that no one has ever explained it to you. I can take a shot at that right now.

My girlfriends like doing it - though infrequently. Mainly due to the considerations and efforts which were in the links above.

As to why they like it though there are several reasons why they are into it. When I have engaged in this act with them - they have told me it is both stimulating and fun in it's own way - but also in a kind of teasing denial way.

Often direct genital stimulation is not the only erotic part of sex. The "motions" of sex are too. Such as - for want of a better word - the actual motion of ****ing.

So what Anal Sex seems to do for some women is engage in all of the motions that are so erotic and stimulating - which still denying them the actual direct genital stimulation and penetration.

And my own partners describe this as a growing feeling of teasing denial that makes them ever more hyper aware of how empty their vagina is - with an ever growing urgency to have it filled. To the point they will get an almost murderous need to have actual sex and then normally very fast indeed to orgasm intensely when finally granted it.

I guess all the motions and activities are sending sexual signals to the brain - but the brain usually expecting other signals too and is now not getting them - is reacting to that and it sets off a loop of pleasure -denial - desire that just spirals.

And I do not think many here will deny the erotic power of teasing and denial.

As for why guys are into it with girls - I think there are many many reasons including "porn" as some people suggested in the thread. I am a little more cautious of that answer though as I think porn reflects the desires of the viewer as much as the viewer forming desires because of porn. However we can throw out a few other possibilities -

One is mere variety. You could ask why do people want hand jobs when they can have "normal" sex? Why do they want oral sex when they can have "normal" sex. Why - given normal sex - does anyone want to do anything else? It is the exploration of a variety of sexual avenues - each with their own sensory experience and variety.

Another as others have said is taboo. It is not as taboo these days I guess but it is still to "go there" in a way that is out of the "norm" which can be erotic.

Third is investment in the sexual act is erotic to many guys. We are turned on - very often - by women being turned on and getting into sex. So a woman doing something other than "the norm" can give us this image of them giving themselves over to the act of sex with higher abandon. Getting into it with wild abandon is just sexy for man. Sometimes the sexual act itself is not as much of a turn on as the simple fact she is actually doing it.

The list goes on but I think it is a long one over all. And each guy into anal is probably not just one of them but a combination of many of them. I know I am.
