Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's a terrible product. The emulation is seriously lacking, especially in the sound department.
If original hardware isn't an option, the classics collection on PS4/XBone/Steam is good.

Yes, plenty of Sega collections released down through the years on the ps2 ps3 psp and ps4. Good options available for street fighter games too. It's the 4 mortal Kombat games from the mega drive I'm after.

Why the megadrive versions? They are god awful.

Don't think there's any good way of playing the old games, there was a mortal kombat collection on the PS3 and Xbox 360 which had good emulation of the arcade games on it and is the best way to play these games. It might be on Xbox One through the backwards compatibility program. They are the last releases of the old games.

The megadrive consoles with the games are very poor standard and I really can only recommend to stay well away.

In all honesty they are pretty bad fighters in retrospect, get some Capcom or SNK games instead :pac:

Ah look it was what I grew up playing so I'm happy if I can get it. If the SNES versions were better I'd love to give them a try too. I'm sure they can't be a million miles off and if they're better again great.

I already have all the Street fighter games. They, like the Sega mega drive classics have been released multiple times over down the years. So when it comes to that and Sonic the hedgehog and Shinobi etc I'm sorted.

Mortal Kombat eludes me though. I did have a version of 1,2 & 3 on the psp on midway arcade classics but I found them to be a very poor rendition. To put it mildly.

A modded Snes mini or a Retropie would be a good shout for MK 1-3

Am I right in saying I could play these on a SNES mini (or indeed a mini mega drive) with the cartridges?

No, it wouldn't be compatible with cartridges. If you want to go the cartridge route it's original hardware or something like a Retron 5. I have no experience with the Retron though so I couldn't tell you how good it is

Apparently a member on this site holds 2 Irish Super Mario kart SNES record and is currently 317th in the world.

    Wonder who that is :p

I've gone to the dark side and bought a xbox one S.

Mostly just for the backwards compatibility so I'm not tied to a console that is about to explode.

That and Ninja Gaiden black and Radiant Silvergun are on the BC list.

Here's one I didn't know, if you give Sonic 3D Blast a bit of a slap (literally) it can get you to the level select menu (apparently something to do with the game having a crash handler that brings you to this menu)

That video was out ages ago. Well worth following gamehut, the guy running it has been showing off how he managed all the crazy effects he pulled off while working at Traveller's Tales.

Just arrived with a fee of €34 euro :(

    It was UPS.

But like 65%ish tax on a coupe of records, some joke.

It's a Mortal Kombat and Transformers vinyl so hopefully they will be worth the wait. For anyone wondering, it was from think geek. I didn't buy from them in about 10 years and couldn't remember why, I suddenly remember :p

Your paying the VAT/Duty handling charge of UPS on top of a standard rate of VAT of 23% - its charged on both the item value and shipping to stop folks saying an item cost $1 and the shipping was $99
I avoid using UPS/Fedex for international shipments as they love getting some VAT/Duty handling charges

Their 'admin' fee pisses me off. Thanks for charging me €10-15 for paying customs on my behalf. You don't even have a chance to pay it yourself!

They're also never really accurate. Last time I got a package with DHL they done me out €10. Wasn't arsed calling around to get it back but I can only imagine how much they over charge people with their dodgy customs calculations.

So, a local TKMaxx has these crappy NesClone consoles for sale, the ones with no games you know and all composite all the time.

Opinions please. I like having a the boxes on display but I think it may be better having the consoles on display.

I might stick some controllers on the wall behind each console. I'll get broken/spare ones and take the wires out to make them look cleaner. The bottom shelf I'm not sure. I might prop up the accessories and have some games on display. Room is limited though.

Going rate on PVM's in Ireland these days? prefer not to bother with paying out the arse for shipping, really want to get back into the swing of things and rebuild everything I sold in 2016.
Can't even find a good trinitron locally on adverts!

Normally threads get closed at 10,000. Years ago however threads were left to grow much, much larger, these threads caused the hamsters no end of trouble, so they got deleted recently I believe. So that's probably where all your gems went.

How long is a piece of string! :D

Depends entirely on what comes up as they're pretty uncommon.

That recent 14 inch one I got was 120 on Donedeal. That's in and around what I've sold some of that size for in the past.

Only thing you can do really is bide your time, keep checking adverts/donedeal and hope that something comes up.

It's also worth subscribing to all of the alerts on dragonbox in case any show up for sale (they tend to sell out fast when they do)

Yeah, don't know the ins and outs of it but I agree, especially as there is such a big push to make sure gdpr or whatever it's called doesn't wreck content going forward.

In other news, pretty sad my ZX Spectrum Next isn't going to be under the tree this year. Late spring is my guess.

49 euro? I could almost stomach buying a c64 mini for that price. Sh*te joystick and all.

I was walking down Westmoreland Street yesterday evening at about 6pm and there was a truck parked up with a line of arcade machines in the back.

They looked to me like either done up jamma cabs or some modern full sized recreations. Could kind of make out what looked like a SF2 marquee and bezel on one of them.

Torn between getting a PSP or PSTV. I have no real interest in Vita games so that's not a must.

Playing some PSP on my phone at the moment and I do miss handheld gaming but PSTV may be a better system for DualShock, better screen/sound via TV etc.

Any thoughts? Haven't played a PSP since the unreliable 1000 model about 10 years ago. Just looking to do some light gaming. Ridge Racer, Darkstalkers, Lumines etc.

Upside is I have a One4All voucher so could pick up a PSP in the Rage. Likely a 2000 model, don't think there's a huge difference between the 3000 model. Must look into it. Then need to look at one of those SD card adaptors.

Just wondering is it silly to consider a PSP?
