They are not cats/dogs they are people like anyone else.

They demand special status and treatment.

That would not be reasonable obviously.
13/14 year old and up would have plenty of cop on though.

Take a look at the spread of ages in the Cash family, step back in time to the birth of the youngest, now have a little think about the benefits of having a childminder for at least some of the day.

As I posted earlier that is playing to the stereotype. Not all travellers are looking for fights at church occasions, it is just a baseless statement.

A baseless statement is a statement without a basis. Mine has a basis, hence, by definition, it cannot be baseless. That's basic fifth class English comprehension!

They are not cats/dogs they are people like anyone else.

Except for the fact - so bleeding obvious that you are incapable of seeing it - that they are not "people like everyone else".

But, if we ignore that minor issue, then you're 100% correct. So pat yourself on the back in an approving manner.

what makes you think we were all squished into one bedroom? You seem to like making a lot of assumptions about a situation you are completely ignorant of.

Also I nearly forgot the working parents educate thier children which is great.
Travellers should also educate thier children by the way.
But it also cannot be ignored that many working parents treat thier educators as handy childminders while they are at work.
Once the there are holidays for the kids there are the usual gripes about teachers etc.
The kids are hindrance to them.
The working parents want either state education / childminding to do the majority of thier parenting for them.
As that is what the parents have become accustomed too.
This is in contrast to the travellers who are there for thier own kids.
A 'stay a home mother' in general society is a phrase well used now.
But I have never heard the phrase stay at home traveller mother:D
Because, That might actually be giving travellers some praise!?

You need to give the old white powder a miss for a while.

About 310 slightly higher payment for a teenager. Having said that my wife and I fostered on several occasions anyone that thinks there's money in it needs to find a different occupation.

I was not referring to those who foster those they might have no familial connections with. Good on you for that. It is something that should be absolutely given many supports. But maybe you are, fair dues either way.

However it seems to me that fostering is a money spinner for the Travellers, all related and know the score, and who would dare deny them that.

Add on the Carer's allowance, and child allowance and so on. Honestly they may not be very good at the oul reading and writing, but when it comes to getting free money from the taxpayer, they have a degree in it.

Sorry, probably overstepped the PC mark there.

We have fostered for several years, children from all sections of society including traveller children. One thing they all had in common is they usually arrived with only the clothes sometimes the clothes were not even theirson their backs. Everything needed to bought for them and that is what the allowance is for plus at least one partner has to be stay at home. Can't speak for what goes on with fostering in the travelling community.

It's probably less distressing on the official at the counter of whatever department to just hand it out rather than try to reason with a family at the counter playing dumb and who are a always just breath away from playing the racist card.

You see it in hospitals with the entourage accompanying the patient blocking up the whole A and E.
No one says a word about it.
It's endured until they're gone and the place is left in a mess.

If they're going to do it a hospital they'll do it anywhere to get what they think they're entitled to.

I salute you for doing this.

My point was that there seems to be a lot of fostering within the Travelling Community for whatever reason. Ms. Cash was fostered it seems.

I know what you do may not be financially viable, but in other communities it may be.

Just shows how people might do things for good reasons, whereas others might do it for financial gain. Not you of course.

    Wish you well.

Fair play to anyone that fosters kids.

Now before anyone shouts at me, I know exactly what you mean about AE.

My poor mother was in a Q for AE in a NW Dublin hospital recently. The poor woman was in bits.

In came the entourage shouting and roaring and causing ructions. No one told them to leave and let the patient be seen to. NO. They were accommodated and actually disturbed so many seriously ill patients it was unreal.

Anyway. We got over it, and mother was so well looked after we cannot complain really. But it is not right either.

Shouting seems to be something they do somehow.

There is no money in it, if you do it properly and fairly, and correctly spend the money on the kid.

For some, there is money in it.

We were always at a loss tbh, but as unbelievable as it will sound to some we didn't do it for the money. It can also have a negative affect on your own family if the foster child or their natural family are particularly troublesome.

Possibly but I have never encountered any that do it for the money, of course they may put on a good front.

That poster was talking about a situation some 50 years ago as you are quite aware of yourself.

    Stop being pedantic.

Most modern homes have on average three bedrooms. If a decent married couple can afford to have seven kids then let them at it, neither you nor I are to judge.

Do you know what nonce means son?

This woman is pure comedy. I've given up on taking any discussion on her specifically seriously.

I would like to see this thread turn into a game of a witty swipe at her rather than a discussion on traveler issues, like the facebook thread.

Don't have kids if it takes you that much effort - both work away

Again if it causes people that much stress why have them - childminders see the kid for the majority of the time.

Alternatively accept a lower standard of living with one working - and you would be nearly better off when child-minding fees are factored in.[/quote

Who's going to pay for our kids if we all give up work

Our kids will be the ones whos taxes pay for Margarets grandchildren

Funny how Sinn Féin dropped her like a hot potato.

Pure populism, Mary Lou in a selfie.

Eoin O Broin should should apologise to Leo Varadkar after he used her to try discredit his name and motives.

    They are a disgrace.

She was the darling of the RTE and the political left for about 15 minutes. She posed for pictures with Miriam O'Callaghan and Mary Lou.

They subsequently discovered her penchant for shoplifting and posting right-wing nationalist anti-immigrant memes on Facebook. That was the end of the cosy relationship.

That's not even close to the worst she has posted on FB and I've only seen her account twice. Loves a bit of incitement of violence, like any good mother.
