Bah Hum Bug. I just hate this show, the happy clappy songs, the never ending drudgery of the presenter who tries to hard to be happy. It's just a horrible mess of a programming, its as mind numbingly boring as a normal late late show. It is the worst of the worst. Ahhhhh!

And they start talking about it in September.

    Happy Christmas All.

    I know right!
I can't believe how they make you watch it!

The best thing about it is that it prevents a "normal" episode of the The Late Late Show from going out.

Media coverage of the show, pain in the arse.

    I don’t watch it.

Not really much more to add...

Its for Kids and their families. Its a nice touch, I don't personally watch it but I'm sure I will if I have children.

To have a problem with the Late Late Is irrational. Just..... don't...... watch it....

    Simple!

They could probably do with a presenter with a younger persona. Don't know what age Tubridy is, but he seems to have been stuck back in the days of Frank Sinatra since he first appeared.

a thread on boards is hardly a pain in the arse as the person put it, if people are not interested then its hardly in your face media coverage

Must be what I am looking at I think all the newspapers are running some story if not 5 stories on the bloody thing.

I understand I don't have to watch RTÉ at but feck sake 3 spin off programmes this week is over kill.

I agree....this show makes me angry and sad.

I need something to make me laugh.

95% of the toy companies pay RTE to have their toys on it.

Not surprised given how every program on RTE comes with an advertisement for the show.
The news came with an advert for it, the weather after the news came with an advert for it. The adverts for their afternoon came with an advert for it.

It is obviously big money for RTE, and its the worst show of the year, just hyped beyond reason.

I think its a symptom of a bigger problem, Christmas starts far too early, and the sole reason is for retail max gain. I don't know how people can bring kids to see santy in november., by December he'll be a distant memory.

Seriously, I grew up in the 80s and Christmas wasn't spoken about until mid December. It truly was a special time because it was a short few days of being festive which made you savour it more.

It truly was a special time because you were a kid at the time. It's just as special to kids these days.

Back when I was a lad it was Gay Byrne on a Tricycle for 3 hours and the Billy Barry Kids in Mid-Dec, not some fecking lula in a jumper leppin about the place.

Imagine a mass boycott of RTE, now that would be something to behold.

Gay was excellent, he sorta played a stern grandad role but had so much character. Tubridy pales in comparison.

Well that may be so, but it makes logical sense that the festive period loses its magic being dragged out for 2 months

Drives me nuts! It's all over the radio today - in the news!! Fb posts on every page - gotta have your 'toy show ' pjs, your 'toy show' goodie box oh and of course the tree has to be for the 'toy show ' too! Bah humbug lol

Wrong presenter anyway, he doesn't really warm to kids.

By the same logic the magic would be maximised if we condensed Christmas to a quick 3 minute period.

Statistically most presenters that warm to kids get arrested in some weird thing called Yewtree.

I adore Christmas. I have no problem with it starting early/etc.
I don't really like The Toy Show since Ryan took it over.
It's basically a musical and Ryan acts like a rude upper class child and in the last few years it hasn't being Christmassy enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,123 ✭✭✭Thespoofer

If it was Gay Byrne I would watch it because of Mr Tubridy I won't.

I don't have a problem with the toy show itself. It never did anything for me or my children who are now in their mid 20s.

    I've never understood the hype.

    This view mirrors my own

10/10 would agree with it again

Even the weather forecasters have been plugging it the last couple of days.

    Bizzare.

The main thing going for it is the cringe factor tbh
