hahah what? I'm northside my whole life and live in D3 now, work in the city centre. I've no idea what nonsense you're on about.

And you feel safe enough in D3 do you?

Very tenous links to one of the families.

It seems so but we'll know more after this
    https://www.thejournal.ie/clive-staunton-shooting-leixlip-4342938-Nov2018/

Even if his links are tenuous the fact that he's been called another victim in the gang war means he's linked in some way.

Perfectly safe. I felt safe when I worked in D15, D5, and when I work in D1 and D2 as well.

    we were 16th in 2012

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/318810/homicide-rate-for-the-most-populous-city-in-european-countries/

and that data only looks at the most populous city in every country so it is possible we are ranked lower.

This says 6th in 2009. also, remember, the gardai have being under reporting the rates for years.

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/icrime/dublin-ranks-6th-among-european-capitals-for-murder-rate-81103.html.

Mental that,I mean who would have thought putting such a large cohort of people in such a small space would lead to it being the top place for murder

    The Japanese?

Well thats good for you im happy that you do, maybe what you have experienced doesnt match what i have, and thats fine.

I dont see Gardai where i live, and scumbags have the run of the place. Is it ok with you that i feel unsafe?

Fixed now. The trend rates have probably gone up not down in the meantime. All rates are underestimated until this year because of Garda corruption.

(And your link works but needs $588 to unlock).

It bothers me that you're probably exaggerating for effect and using those exaggerations as confirmation bias.

Or... some parts of Dublin are very dangerous. Even a few streets away makes a difference.

What part of my post do you believe is an exaggeration ? Is it that hard to believe in the lack of garda presence?

I would arm the Gardai, increase their flat rate wages to €1,000 per week after tax. I would introduce a special armed Transport police. I would build new prisons, I would jail far more people and if you have three previous convictions then your going away for ten years. Life would mean life and I would use the Death Sentence also. Liberal judges and SJW do-gooders would be no longer allowed to dictate to the law-abiding people. All crime should be punished properly and hire many more gardai. I would call it a total war on Scum. I would end all free legal aid and get rod of half the parasite solicitors.

Around the world the trend is for people who deliver on these promises, Duterte in the Philippines massacred Thousands in his war on Drugs to clean up the country and end corruption. Bolsanaro in Brazil has promised to slaughter the criminals in the favelas from Rio to Salvador. Trump has backed the US police heavily and is stacking the US Supreme court in his favour. In Hungary, Poland and Italy similar toughmen have also gotten into power on common sense crack downs on crime and terror. In Dubai and Saudi Arabia despite there disgusting treatment of women they run a tight ship in regards law and order and if you step out of line your down to chop chop square in Riyadh and in Dubai you will be deported for Drunk and Disorderly never mind more offensive crimes.

It's a bit totalitarian but how about insert everyone with a GPS chip powered by body heat and its impossible to remove.
Most crimes would be easily solved, therefore be prevented.
Crime rates would drop hugely immediately.
Use the money saved on the criminal justice system I.e. police, prisons, judges etc and spend it on disadvantaged areas, addiction services etc

I've no intention of getting into that argument.

Not the first time you look at it.

? That’s a fact. Not an argument. The CSO estimates underreporting on ~20% in those years.
Not the first time you look at it.

At statistica in general I suppose because it doesn’t work for me at all, ever.

even if we add on 20% we're still not getting into the top 10.

Very dangerous is a complete exaggeration.

(Hard to refute that btw as your link is paywalled).

We’re clearly getting into the top 10 in 2009 because we were already there.

I’d trust the people living there. I don’t live in those areas, but I know people who do. There are areas of Dublin that are criminal run.

It’s insane what middle class people thinks goes on the areas with gang members. The sheer class contempt is hard to believe. An utter lack of empathy with the working poor.

Thats getting into the conspiracy theory territory of claiming theres areas of london under sharia law

Gardai are afraid to enter certain parts of the city unless they are mob handed. You cant blame them really.

well your article is based on data from 2006. It is seriously out of date.

If that is true I'd said it's less of a reflection on how bad the crime is and more on how poor of a police force it is

It really isn’t. Ffs. There are gangs in Ireland. Do you think that if a gang member or one of their family kill your dog, or harass you or break your windows you go the increasingly useless cops or expect if the useless cops do anything the state will protect you. It won’t.

Not a chance. There's a senseless stab related murder in London every other day.

As an aside, that murder in KILDARE last night was the first in that particular feud since January. Guards have done a very good job of stemming the deaths associated with it.

I live in Dublin 3. I've lived on the Northside in "rough areas" my whole life. My father is from a "rough" area on the southside, my mother is from a "rough" area on the northside. You're talking bollocks, complete and utter bollocks.

It is true, as i said in a post earlier this week 6 months it took for a guard to come to my house for a statement from my OH after she had her purse robbed. 11pm on a Friday night they knocked on my door looking for a statement. I got the fright of my life thought i was getting bad news.
