    God, no. It’s very watchable with a few funny bits but on further inspection is a big pile of shïte. Very watchable shïte. But shïte all the same. The “It’s not your fault” scene with Damon and Williams is toe-curlingly cringeworthy. I can’t watch it. My favourite acting performance in the film is actually Stellan Skarsgård’s. He nails the slightly arrogant, skirt-chasing professor. But other than that... meh.

    The good the bad and the ugly graveyard scene and also the scene in mean streets where De Niro and Harvey Keitel are talking in the back of the bar about the money that went missing, I think that the dialogue was improvised on the spot. I also loved the battle scene at the end of district 9 when he's in the Big alien mech thing, ****ing epic. I remember seeing that movie the night before I went to see Avatar and afterwards I was like to my brother and cousin let me show you a real movie.

    From a lesser known Kubrick movie, the final duel scene from Barry Lyndon. So much tension, ratcheted up by the deliberate slow pace of the scene and the ominous music. I love the little touches like the non-duellists inching backwards to avoid any wayward shots. Also the conclusion is devastating:

    Earlier in the movie there is a more traditional style of duel where both men fire simultaneously. I don't think it's explained why the different set of rules for the later duel, but it is a seriously terrifying idea, just standing there while your opponent takes his shot (even if, as the scene makes clear, the weapons are unreliable and inaccurate).

    I could fill this thread with scenes from Kubrick films - pretty much every scene in Doctor Strangelove is memorable.

    The tension at the beginning of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

    Mark Strong is sitting in the Budapest cafe with the 'double agent'. He knows after a minute that something is wrong. The waiter is sweating. The locals seem scared.

    The opening scene of Inglourious. Hans Landa is toying with Monsieur La Perdite.

    That's great alright, I'd arguably put the "what are you the God of again?" scene in Thor: Ragnarok ahead of it.

    Every scene is like a painting in that film it's actually too much to take in at times

    Completely agree, it does not get better than this. Once Upon A time in the West has many extraordinary scenes (Opening scene, Frank and his gang killing the family, Jill arriving in Flagstone, The Tavern, Frank killing the assassins in Flagstone with Harmonica's help) but this one trumps them all.

    Almost every scene in Once Upon A Time in the West is masterful, come to think of it.

    Schindliers List - Girl in the red dress scene.

    Shawshank Redemption - Warden, Hadley, Red realise Andy escaped through tunnel in cell after chess piece goes through poster OR Andy crawling out of sewer pipe to freedom.

    Full Metal Jacket - Pyle killing Gunnery Seargent Hartman in the toilets then killing himself.

    Avengers - Tony Stark/Ironman redirecting tesseract powered nuke into spacial vortex to destroy invading army.

    300 Rise of an Empire - Opening scene with Themistocles leading Athenians in shock combat against Persians on beach before they can establish camp. (Musicical score Marathon is epic)

    Some great scenes. this might not be he greatest but it must surely be the most recreated scene in movie history. Pretty much every bloke has looked in the mirror after watching Taxi Driver and uttered the words - "You talkin' to me.."

    As a scene it really shows how Travis is battling with himself and his delusion is turning to action.

    I saw that movie in Chicago and the audience went absolutely bananas at that moment. Definitely added to the enjoyment.

    If you enjoyed Kill Bill, make sure you look at a Japanese Samurai film called 'Harakiri' the black and white one from 1962, there's a fantastic scene in that,
    The 'top knot' scene, when everyone realises who the guy telling the story is and now everyone is going to get killed by him
