Teachers in Ireland too white and too irish?

"Recent research has found that while Ireland’s school student population is now highly diverse, teachers here continue to be overwhelmingly 'white Irish' and middle class."

"This initiative hopes to help change that profile."

As reported yesterday by RTE on the Marino Institute https://www.rte.ie/news/education/2018/1114/1010753-immigrant-teachers/

So just like the housing situation being a disaster, yet the government planning on a further million people in their 2040 "vision", we also have a seriously bad situation for teachers in the country, so lets throw fuel on the fire! Makes sense in down-is-up land.

I know several teachers struggling for years now to get a stable job, and then you have these genius ideas as above to "help" the problem.

What kind of joke is this? The inference is that a non-European ("white", never mind just irish) should be able to come here, and not only that, irish teachers should "make room" for non-European teachers to teach their children too.

Why don't irish people just leave the country all together, sure we're basically just getting in the way of "progress". The various entities, loud mouths, useful idiots and even government have a lot to answer for, this environment that is being artificially created is downright toxic for irish people.

Or maybe some people here agree that irish teachers are too white and too irish for our "own" good?

EDIT: My quote from RTE states "white and Irish", but the actual quote should also include "female". Now isn't that weird?! That RTE would purposefully leave out one element? Golly gosh!

    EDIT 2:
Find below an exemplar of the mindset that wants this to happen on a much greater scale. Read this post from elsewhere in the thread and weep!

"If we open up closed industries and roles to a larger labour force, we can get better people. Otherwise, these industries grow old and stale, with inertia kicking in.

Do you think the Gardai and the Public Sector could not be improved?
These roles should reflect the community they police, educate and administer.

As to your last point, are you afraid of competition?"

Youre not good enough, irish people, sorry! We're running a factory now, its not a home anymore!

I could never understand why everyone wants to live with the whites if they hate them and their countries so much.

So in a class of 30 kids where 25 will be Irish, 2 Polish, 1 Latvian, 1 Nigerian and 1 traveller,
what nationality should the teacher be?

Im sorry, I couldn't understand your math question because you're far too white and irish. Just cant absorb information because of the colour of your skin and ethnicity.

Its not just the insult for being white and irish, its also the employment situation for teachers. Its abysmal, so this is like a double whammy.

You might even put a tinfoil hat on your head and guess that they are...connected!

Nothing, as far as I can make out - we just need to tone it down a bit. Less GAA jerseys and "Jaysis the weather is shockin' ta Christ altogther so it is so it is!!" and more in the way of traditional Watusi printed cloth and reciting the Gayatri Mantra instead of "Bong-Bong-Bong... " at 6pm.

Look you're on the wrong forum and while I agree with you mostly here is what is going to happen in this thread.

Prepare for 3 or 4 leftwing trolls to start calling you a big racist and asking you for links and sources.
Some people will back you up and get angry with the trolls and go too far.

A load of people will be banned from posting on this thread and the people that are left will just drift away and the thread will sink off the board.

Let me again stress that I mostly agree with you but getting into this subject here is not worth a ban and I find boards.ie useful for many other things.

Just a bit of friendly advice.:)

For some people the outrage over there being non white, non irish people in the country (that want to work) just never ends.

    Must be hard work

Are they just inventing non issues - peddling them as issues in the media - then making life worse for everyone.

Rather then actually fixing our real issues - like Healthcare, Housing, Homelessness.. etc.

Another day, another pile of anti migrant nonsense from the self professed anti immigrant poster.

Just for accuracy the initiative is simple, straight forward and welcome...
A new programme aimed at helping immigrant teachers find work in Irish schools opens to applicants today.

The course, at Dublin’s Marino Institute of Education, aims to provide immigrants who are qualified teachers, but not working as such, with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enable them to find employment here.

For anyone to object to this is utterly absurd.

Yeah I appreciate that, but these lunatics are only getting away with these agendas because people are either (purposefully) disenfranchised, afraid to say anything, or both.

Its the silence that kills us. So even if a couple more people read this post, its better than yet another agenda-laced initiative slipping under the radar.

I'll stand my position in good faith against any argument that doesn't equate "don't mention this/don't talk about this/be quiet".

Definitely a strong case for non nationals to teach languages. And as many on here will testify I am far from a loony leftist.
