I had a bit of a glitch the other night.I was watching something when the EPG update request came up. I pressed OK and let it off. I noticed a few minutes later that the progress circle had stopped spinning and the whole box seemed to crash. No button on the remote would do anything. I turned off the power button at the back , waited 5 mins and turned it back on. It fired up straight away but I've noticed over the last 2 days that loads of things have changed.

For instance:

The font sizes on the OSD are bigger.
All channels names when you change to them, have a number before them and the font is also huge,
When I hit Up or Down arrow during a show I get a synopsis of what's on with the next 5 programmes listed underneath (Bonus) instead of only one.
Plus my picons have all come back. A lot of them had disappeared.

Where's the best place to go to try and change some of those things to get back to the way it was?

I'm not working all this week so I hope to sit down for a few hours and get more familiar with settings and stuff. I Haven;t Had a proper chance all along.

Those sound like the tweaks I did to my image. You can change font sizes in the mymetrix lite plugin. You can remove the channel numbers in the menu. You are probably just as well flash again. I hope you took a backup.

Sometimes the skin settings don’t get applied properly, after a crash. Before you try anything else try a full restart of the box, from the menu.

I'd changed the crossepg update time from your default of 3am to 9pm as sometimes my daughters stay up watching something and switch the box off at the wall despite telling them not to. I'll set it to 5am. Usually just a matter of pressing OK and letting it do its thing but it just crashed during this process the other night.

I'll have a go at changing the font sizes tomorrow. I'll leave the prog description panel alone as the OH likes the list of the next 5 shows rather than just the next.

Is mymetrix what controls what I call the OK screen? ie. what you see when you press OK during a programme.

In OpenWebif > Settings > Packages > All
I see a list of numerous software packages some of which have what appears to be a "recycle bin" or "delete" symbol and others have what appears to be a "save" or "update" symbol. Where would I learn a bit about these or, more importantly, should they be left alone??

Definitely leave alone, unless you are very certain why you are changing something. Adding/removing packages can go very wrong and mean that you have toreflash the box.

Packages where the recycle bin is shown are already installed and you have the option to uninstall them.

Just reapply the MyMetrix skin, it’s somewhere under settings, that should work.

Bought one of these for my bedroom very impressed I must say .I use a solo2 in the main room running Openvix , but I switched to Openatv for the tiviar .

Only thing I changed from default was ABM , but I was able to copy my Custommix file over from the Solo 2 and everything is sweet .Can`t believe how fast this

box is , a great buy .

Sorry for silly question but are all channels coming through satellite dish or do you need an aerial for Irish channels?

The Irish channels are not free on satellite therefore you need an aerial for Saorview

Lost one of my channels coulple days ago.(cbeebies)

I thought in past when this had happened, I just went into autobouquests make and done a scan. When I try this now, I get an error message "failed to tune freesat uk on tuner A"

Am I correct in how I'm trying to retune the channel ?

Autobouquetmaker will add the new frequency to the one in the children's bouquet. It does not update it if you have it in favourites or anywhere else or if you have Autobouquetmaker set not to show the children's bouquet

My Autobouquests maker is failing when I run a scan.

It runs through the saorview scan and then fails on tuner A..
Not sure what happened , is the Autobouquests sensitive to signal strength as nothing else would have changed.

What version of abm is installed as with older versions you removed via plugin feed and downloaded newer version from plugin feeds.

Are you sure both satellite tuners are getting a signal?

I only have the one connected.
My Autobouquests maker used to always fail when I got the box first ,took me a while to figure out it was because it was failing on tuner b due to nothing being connected to it.
I disabled tuner b and Autobouquests then ran fine and completed.

Now it's failing on tuner A for some reason , a number of channels have been lost such as channel 5 I've just noticed- could the wind have caused this on a particular frequency?
Most of the channels are ok .

How do you mean lost? Is it listed but not working? Do a full manual scan on the satellite tuner and the one in all channels should work. You can check your signal in service searching -> signal finder

Ya it's coming up as black screen.
Done the manual scan and same.
I checked the frequency for Channel 5 and getting no signal in the signal finder.

Is it possible that only certain frequencies can get no signal while other are up at 92% .

A sat receiver uses 4 different tuning bands. If an LNB fails you sometimes miss a limited group of channels from one band/polarisation. A box failure could give similar results. If you can borrow a known good box from someone it will show if it's your dish/lnb or the box itself.

EDIT: Cbeebies HD and Channel 5 are both low band horizontal.

I have box on Tuner A but I have it as advanced and using LNB 1. cBEEBIES is only on during the day so will give a black screen but it will show a signal in finder.

Yes you can pick up vertical and not horizontal and vice versa if dish or lnb has moved or a bad cable connection or lnb needs skew adjusted. And box can go wonky so I do a hard reset ie power off at back.

I have an old bog standard box which should tell me if it's the lnb/dish at fault.

We had savage wind few days ago so maybe it's that.

Checking there now in signal finder - all my Horizontal frequency's have 0% signal. Vertical frequencies are all fine .

If it was that bad its a good possibility as things get moved,surprised more posts are not saying that but can depend in location,would think your more exposed up there than dublin.

I've had the box now for a few weeks and have to day it's fantastic.

still on HH image, 500gb SATA installed

My ebay wifi dongle (ralink rt5370 chipset) arrived but for whatever reason the box doesn't detect it. Have the 3070 (5370) plugin installed and removed the 2800 one but still the same.
Tried all the rear USB ports

Just wondering if I need to be on a standard OpenATV image to install it?

If so, can I backup all the current settings / bouquets / epg etc, flash a standard ATV image & then restore the backed up settings?

Different drivers are required, depending on the chipset in the dongle. I doubt if any of them are on a standard image, but I’m not certain. If you can connect your box to the internet using a fixed connection, you can download the correct driver from: Menu-setup-SoftwareManagement-advancedOptions-PackageManagement. All the available drivers are listed in the section enigma2-plugins....

It is always good practice to back up your settings, just in case...

Decided to try the adapter in 2 different windows PCs & none of them are even detecting it. Not showing in device manager, even as an unknown device.
It looks like the adapter is D-O-A ðŸ˜£

Have a second coming that I ordered as a spare so will wait for that.
The power line adapter currently installed is for an android box upstairs that I want to use to stream from the alpha using an app like dreamplayer

The WiFi dongle I got from WoS does not give a stable connection for streaming, you’re far better off with the power line adapter. The dongle works fine for non-streaming tasks, such as software updates or getting info from the IMDB. From looking at enigma2 dedicated sites, this appears to be a known issue.

(I had the misfortune to wire the under stairs socket spur using 13 amp flex, as the run was difficult. I’m now in the process of replacing it with standard 2.5mm twin and earth, so that I can use the powerline adapters.)

Have newclaremans image before last loaded. It's chewing through hard disk space despite deleting all timers and shortening live TV rewind settings.
Any ideas?
Else I'll load the latest image.
Best way of restoring channel settings after that I made?

Bit of a problem lads. Flashed with new image last night and all went well. However the OH didn't like it as she's got used to the way it was. I took a backup of my image yesterday and am now trying to flash with it instead. All seemed to be OK but now it's stopped at "F-rootfs" for the last half hour.
Where do I go from here?
