    In webif , to move the channels up and down the boquet list on the right hand side by drag and drop, make sure you click on the small triple horizontal bar icon to the left of the channel name.

    Took me ages to figure that one out.

    So I'm not the only one who fell into that trap....don't feel so stupid now!!

    I stumbled upon this thread and it convinced me to give this box a try. At the time we were looking to leave Sky and I was looking for alternatives. I have to say it is one of the best choices I've ever made.

    Three months on and, building on THHB's work, I've got it configured to meet our needs. It gives far more functionality than sky and I've tried to make it as simple and straightforward to use, as possible. (e.g. larger fonts, no unnecessary information, simple program list, hot keys...) Most importantly, it has (now) passed the wifey test, and, most of the time, she is comfortable using it.

    This one box now meets all our entertainment needs, apart from occasional use of Netflix. We use it for TV, Films, Music, Radio and a range of online streams. The only thing I miss is F1 live, on Sky Sports. (But not enough to go back to them.) So thanks to everyone on this thread, especially THHB, for all their work, that made this possible. I updated the firmware to OpenATV6.2 and then undated all the software packages and plugins. The updated image is available, here, in case it is of use to someone else. Thanks again...

    I've released the folder on Google drive, everyone should be able to download, now.

    Full information on setting up Movie Browser can be found here.
    it is very powerful and even works with films on TV.
    If you get a nag screen, for payment, it goes away after, about 5 closures.

    Some additional screenshots...

    It's worthwhile giving the box a cold boot after the time change. Take note if you have a USB inserted you are best remove it and let it boot without it.

    I've been busy the last few weeks so I've had no time to flash the drive until this morning.
    I downloaded the file from the THHB google drive and I formatted a 8gb usb stick useing Win32 tool and I have tried it with the Tiviar folder on the USB and turned the box off at the back and booted up the box as per the instruction, press the Power button and "Booting" "Run Alpha+" and the box seems to count up to 100? But I'm still on the same image that I installed. I tried opening the tiviar folder and putting the individual files on the usb and repeated the process and no joy.
    Can someone point me in the right direction or did I miss something.

    So you have a folder called tiviaraplus in the root of your usb key which has 4 files inside?

    Try a different usb?

    Yes the file is on the usb. I have tried 2 differant types of USB sticks.

    How do you mean the file is on the usb? On the usb there should be a folder called tiviaraplus (naming it anything else will fail) which should have 4 files inside. when the box is flashing I think it says something like f kernel on the box lcd. Once flashed it will boot where you'll see the percentage climb to 100. When booted arrow up and change channel to see if the box is running it could be on a blank channel

    Yes the file called tiviaraplus is on the usb and within that file is 4 differant files. I'm not seeing F kernel on the box lcd.
    Am i correct in turning the box off at the switch on the rear of the box, install the usb into the port at the rear, power back up with the switch and the the power button appears on the display, press that and it boots up as normal?

    You need to press the power button when it prompts, then it will flash. It's on if the 2 light designs, the left one

    The image is set up to use the wireless dongle from WoS. If using the LAN, the LAN port needs to be enabled under system, network.
    The color keys have been mapped to activate:

    * Movie Browser (Films)
    * TuneIN Radio (Internet Radio Channels)
    * Merlin Music Player
    * Kodi.

    We have a vast collection of CD's and films (DVD+Digital), many of which were just gathering dust. Now I am getting these organised, and uploaded digitally, bit by bit. The apps above allow these be organised with media information, scraped from the internet. The user experience is now so much better and comparable to Netflix. (I use an external hard-drive for films and a 16GB USB fob for music. However, these settings are easily changed and media can be stored on a network drive (NAS), if preferred.)

    There are a wide range of addons available for Kodi, which can now be downloaded from within the app. It is very likely that this, on its own, would suffice for films, music and radio. It was a PITA downloading addons for the first release of version 5, which had to be manually installed. The newest release has integrated the install addons function, but I had my setup completed by then.

    Yeah, that one got me, when I first tried to flash - I thought the power button was the button under the removable lid.

    Hi all

    My tiviar alpha + was put in deep standby on Saturday night. On Sunday morning when I pressed the standby on the remote it says boot followed by Run Alpha +.it does not load up anymore.

    So I decided to flash the box with openvix, openatv was on it.Works fine but then it won't reboot,same issue as above.

    Really stuck on this.

    Thanks

    Usually only the epg gets affected with time change when clocks change twice a year meaning epg is 1 hr out.

    Had to send receiver back to seller as I could not get it working again.I believe lots of people have zero issues with this receiver but unfortunately it has happened to me.

    I'm not sure should I accept a replacement or should I go for another receiver.

    Any thoughts welcome

    You were just unlucky and its the best out there for beginners. These boxes are a steep learning curve and when you get a glitzy one its worse as you dont know if its the box or usb or operator etc that causes fault.

    get a replacement, I got mine from wos AND had openatv on it then followed guide on here. Read as much as possible as then you will see other answers to little niggles and learn how to fix. USB sticks can be buggers so make sure you have the type that has worked.

    Also say exactly what you want the box to do?

    newClareman has done a backup image and what that means is that all the bits needed for image are already added so saves you lots of time. then you learn how to use backup, ie what colour buttons does, and so on, then you can move to thb image if you like.

    Anyone know if it's possible to program the Tiviar remote to control the TV?

    Yes it is, see the attached Tiviar Manual.
    (Bear in mind that the manual is for the Original operating system, so all the references to the software side no longer apply.)

    I tried various options, once the remote was paired to my TV. The one I settled on was turning HDMI CEC off, and setting the TV to a high volume. I, and more importantly wifey, can then control everything with the remote in "STB" mode. The remote turns both devices on and off simultaneously, and the volume can also be controlled without changing to TV mode.

    RTE don't make a player for enigma2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

    You used to be able to access RTE via the IPTV player. Now called E2Iplayer I think. Not near a box now to check.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

    RTE still working but BBC, ITV geoblocked.

    Yeah, that works really well, thanks Gerry. Do you know of any way to set the default stream source for the RTE Player, so that it doesn’t have to be selected each time, before viewing a program?

    Menu - Setup - Software Manager - Manage Extensions

    You'll find it under a long list...

    (I'm still working on simplifying my setup, nearly finished.
    I'll then post a new image, which will include this, already configured.)

    IPTV player was included by default under plugins up to now. Since openATV 6.2 you can add it under PLUGINS> DOWNLOAD PLUGIN (green button) > EXTENSIONS> E2IPLAYER. Keep hitting OK as requested during the install. This app updates almost daily so you will get asked to update on a regular basis.
