A question for Peter Casey voters

I'm sick and tired of people saying that they voted for Casey in order to shake up the establishment etc etc.

If you can't pull your head out of your ass and see the irreparable damage votes based on that premise has and continues to do to the States, then I can't help you.

I get the frustration at the refusal of those in power to speak to the facts, and I mean facts, not embellished anecdotes.

But ffs, a poster said that he got his vote when Casey said he wasn't a feminist, then when another said that Casey was "literally" wrong on the definition, the poster fudged the issue.

A lot of anger is there, and the subject should be addressed, and politicians should do much much bettet, but making it the basis of a presidential election is mental.

Why do people say this? It appeared to me that he said something without thinking. It received a huge backlash and coverage that he did not expect or anticipate. He temporarily suspended his campaign to think about it and then realised he would get some populist support from it and it would give him his best chance to get his expenses back so he ran with it.



If the man had the "courage to say it" , he could and would have said it about a lot more things and said it from the start of the campaign. And there would have been no suspension of campaign. At the end of the day, there are bigger fish to fry than sorting out 6 travellers who won't take their free houses.



The dilemma for Casey voters would have been if one of the other candidates had decided to go one further and shouted about "thieving kn***ers" and "invading muslims" etc. Who would they have voted for then? Given the other candidate would have had "more courage" :rolleyes:

You didn’t make one single logical point in your ramblings.

1. The president has no political power.
2. Casey never said he’d do any of those things, nor did people think he would. He made one statement about travellers as that was his opinion and it went from there.
3. Peter Casey is a millionaire several times over, he wasn’t going for the job for the salary, he even said he’d only take half the salary of elected.

We laughed when it happened in other countries. We saw signs of it here the last week or so. Very disappointing.

Maybe I'll run meself the next time. My slogan will be "no more free prams left at bus stops". Should reel in a few thickos :pac:

You brought up Muslims in your post, so why did you mention Muslims?

That's the same ****e we have to put up with making absolutely ridiculous comparisons.

Look if my car insurance with one insurer is €530 and with another its €99 per month - The €99 sounds cheaper - its twice the price. But saying one is €520 and the other is only €99 per month is a bull**** comparison and TDs and most of those following an agenda usually use these comparisons.

31000 travellers approximately 12m/31000 = €387 per traveller for accommodation ONLY - not to mention (1) social welfare payments (2) Education measures (3) Health Measures just off the top of my head .

The €67 million for an ENTIRE INDUSTRY which provides (between direct, indirect and secondary employment) over 28000 jobs in the country.
Is an industry where the people we have involved be they jockeys, trainers, breeders, farriers etc. etc. are the best in the world.. And remember that that 28000 employees . . .double that as that to 56000 for numbers comparison to travellers as presumably each person will have an average of one child. .

so "we gave" the horse racing industry is a bit rich - consider the income tax and VAT returns alone which would well negate the paltry €67 million "given".

What returns do we have from our investment in travellers?

[And by the way I think its important to invest in them and to help them achieve better life expectancy, literacy and education but its this horse**** (pardon the pun) that they are not being looked after that I have serious issues with. ]

TLDR> I voted for Casey because he had balls to call a spade a spade - not about travellers alone but the fact that the "squeezed middle" are being hit time after time where it is financially more beneficial to be on the dole than working.
