But that's not the issue at hand. The issue with her is her abject stupidity or blatant denial (I'm not sure which it was) vis a vis her comments on the avg industrial wage.

Saw a picture of Martin McGuinness holding one of her posters when she was going for MEP on the SF Facebook page. Has she had work done? Looks a lot better now than then.

There's one guy on twitter who said he will move to another country if Peter Casey wins :pac:

Funny those types never move. Remember all the tossers that were moving out of the US if Trump won, or moving out of the UK if Brexit was passed?

Every one of them still sitting at home moaning.

I would say that it's sexist to comment about her looks because she is a woman but people have been calling Michael D a hobbit and Gallagher a thumb so there's some equality I guess...

I get the feeling that AH has been recently "left to it" when it comes to these things. The Niall Boylan / Joe Duffy types have driven out people who want serious discussion.

A cursory glance through AH shows strong support for casey. The same lazy glance across any other social media platform and casey doesn't feature in the slightest, it's MDH all the way.

So, it's odd. Is really all I can say.

And yes, I am aware that social media tend to show you what you want to see, so I've tried to balance that out.

One of the media groups, across 13 newspapers showed strong support for Casey. Not scientific, but shows there’s more than AH behind him

How about Casey becoming both president and our new AH overlord? or would that be a conflict of interest.

Gave Casey 1, MDH 2. And a yes.

What's the track record on here of Boards polls reflecting election results does anyone know?
Casey on 58% and Higgins on 35% at the moment!

I voted Casey number 6, so if he loses by one vote. That's cause of me

    Voted Yes to keeping blasphemy

Is anyone voting for Casey voting for any particular "presidential" reason?

Or just voting because he gave out about travellers and dole-heads?

If it's the latter, how feckin' thick and easily led can you get? If he genuinely wanted to do anything about those "issues" then it should be the local council or the Dail he runs for. Not President. He might as well be ranting about the tides being too high.

Fair enough if you have a genuine reason for voting for him. But what is that reason?

I don't think it's popular to support Casey so lots of people would be keeping stum online about it publically, but in the privacy of the ballot box using it as a protest vote by giving Casey no. 1.

If he does really well you wonder at the next general election will more candidates go for the non PC say it as you see it statements.

I would be mortified as an Irish person if Casey won.

We've been doing so well showing the world that we're a progressive modern society, and then go and elect a guy to the office of president purely on the basis of him hating travellers

It't not like he could do anything about them anyway, just remind us all every single time he appears in public, that he's there because of mutual hatred of a defined group of people.

"Vote for Michael D just because we say so", so say FG etc. When they have really underwhelmed in government the past few years, it is more of a protest vote. Luckily it is not as harmful as a Brexit or a Trump protest vote but it is so much more than "he hates travellers" (arguably, what he said about them wasn't hateful but more reasonable than the typical pandering).

and in the voting you go from 6 to 1, 6 being your favorite and 1 being your least favorite

I voted Casey because he is somebody who has the courage to speak freely, and his comments regarding travellers were not racist as people like to believe. I was going to give MDH a 2nd preference at the start of this week but after watching him on the RTE debate and then him not bothering to turn up for the Cooper/Yeats show debate I left him off of my voting slip this morning.

I'd be far more mortified if a guy with a track record of publicly praising murderous dictators won. Different priorities I suppose.

There were 4 other people on the ballot other than Mickey and Casey if people want to give 2 fingers to the establishment, but as far as I can see, the only reason people like Casey is because they are glad he said something politically incorrect about the travellers.

    There are 6 candidates total.

What is the preference for Casey being the "protest vote"

    Genuine question.

Michael D / Labour not in government. Career politician, comes across a well educated.

Sean Gallagher has FF roots I think

    Ni Riada is SF
Duffy - I don't think has any political links, but not a great driving history

Freeman, as far as I know is independent senator. known for Pieta House

Casey . Only lived here a few years. Doesn't like the travellers. Not much evidence of paying tax
