Michael D is living a lie up in that Aras and he stands there in that debate saying he never hides anything from the public. How about the fact that his helper is his lover. I’d respect the man more if he came out and admitted. That and the fact he has the personality of a wooden door.

You'll need to ask this poster.
    I did, still waiting.

And there's the Sean Gallagher moment from Casey. Doesn't pay tax in Ireland.

Except Sean was actually in the race at the time

I think the other 2 dragons have Caseys back.
Wasn't that the game plan all along, for the 2 dragons to cover Gallagher?

One large bookie now has Casey as 2nd fav @29 (28/1).
It's turning into a 2-horse race (old horse and the new blood).

Funny how you omitted to say what the price was for Higgins at the large bookie, just so we can compare your two horses?

Who knows what the final result will be once the hoards of average bingo-mass-tea-soapopera voters will swing, once they get bussed in to polling stations. I.e. "That wee man, he seems like a nice chap".
Who exactly do you think is going to be doing this 'bussing' operation?

Sorry, for a minute there, I thought you were having a go at Gavin, talking about people who were struck when out driving.

That's what happens when the other parties vacate the field for their own selfish reasons.

Joan Freeman? With her Iona connections? And her dodgy funding from the owner of a massive pyramid scheme in the US? The Shinner is more credible, and she believes that Gerry wasn’t in the RA.

Freeman would be the last person I’d vote for.

Peter Casey call out the travellers for not paying their share of taxes . And now we find out he doesn't pay any here :)

The law doesn't allow him to pay taxes here.

Say whay you want about Freeman, she's bang on about the establishment doing all they could to prevent an election, and further interfering in it.

Corrupt as they come. Living off the charity sector. Worse than any politician going imo.

So everyone in the charity sector is corrupt? How did you manage to work that out? Or do you expect every charity (including those running many vital services in health, social care and education on behalf of the State) to be volunteers?

If it wasn't for all that I'd consider it. I know that sounds weird but you know what I mean. She's someone who's set up a successful charity. Normally that would be a vote winner.

Some people seem to think that everyone in a charity needs to be a volunteer.

Have a look at Joan Freeman's Pieta House salary and get back to me on that one.

At least the Shinners claim to live on the national industrial wage.

Casey looked like the only one enjoying himself tonight.
Don't like saying it but I don't think there's 7 years of activism left in MDH.
    LNR didn't do bad.
    The other 3 aren't worth a mention.

But most important revelation of the night is that every Euro in Cavan is a prisoner.

Large difference between a volunteer and what many charity CEO's earn. If you are taking a salary well above the national average wage it's not a vocation but a financial endeavour.

    Applies to Joan Freeman.

I have some mixed feelings about that. I know of a charity that hired a new CEO and paid a hundred grand a year. He managed to increase donations the next year to 10 million. Therefore he was worth the money that he was paid. However she founded it so we can't calculate what she's worth compared to other people.

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't vote for her for other reasons but that's not one of them.

Didn't she step down as CEO a year or two ago? What salary are you referring to?

Why does working in a charity have to be a vocation? And what exactly is "corrupt" about working for a salary?

It's an interesting debate but it's all about how you position yourself. If your job is to maximise donations and you are paid an appropriate salary based on fundraising it is fine with me but when you claim to be charitable and are taking pay well in excess of what an average person earns from said charity you are taking the piss in my view.

You are charitable or you are not. She doesn't come close to qualifying in my opinion.
