    He's coming off badly.

To his 70% support? Possibly 10% at a push would think he was coming off badly.

It may not affect the outcome, but he isn't coming off well.

    Freeman 150/1
    Duffy 200/1

Cringeworthy that Casey's got himself from his already well-deserved last-place to being third-favourite. On the strength of shamelessly bashing Travellers, quivering his little bottom lip when he was rightfully criticised for that, pretending to "consider his position" while he went on an already-planned jolly of a weekend, then "returned" to the contest. To then bash welfare claimants.

I suppose it's what Trump would call a modern-presidential style.

It really is amazing how cheaply the votes of some people can be bought.

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

You'd think that if people really, on mature consideration, want to worsen the lives of Travellers and people on welfare, they'd vote for a Dáil deputy with that as their platform. Wanting someone like as president seems to amount to electoral trolling: can't do anything material, just coarsens the tone for no purpose.

I disagree. I think he did really poorly. Couldn't say how many times he used the jet. Kept referring to "important lectures". His only saving grace is there is no one else worth voting for.

do you seriously expect him to write down & keep track over 7 years of how often he used the jet?

Already after running out of steam.

Casey spouts nonsense about issues nothing to do with the presidency, people start saying on boards they'll vote for him.

If there was any sort of credible candidate to challenge these debates would be if interest instead it is the same regurgitated rubbish.

There is one outstanding candidate from the 6 and hopefully he stays in the office come Friday.

Gallagher is just so unlikeable and false. Speaking about taxpayers money. I wonder how squeaky clean his tax affairs are.

Someone should really take the shovel off Sean, we won't see him soon if he keeps digging

Duffy, clearly knowing he's on a hiding to nothing anyway decides to fire a torpedo into Gallagher "Sean you're a commercial landlord, stop trying to pass it off as a social endeavour"

Perhaps some people have had first hand 'experiences' with Travellers, especially rural folk, and can identify with a public figure speaking around that issue.
I know that might upset some liberal sensitivities but such is life

Open any local newspaper, and you'll read about plenty of councillors and TDs talking similarly - totally irrelevant to the Presidency, however.

Pity he couldn't talk about it constructively and *actually* start a discussion, if we're all still pretending that was his aim, rather than that he was last place as the Third Dragon and needed the outrage vote but he went for cheap shots and lies and apparently that's enough.

Bet Hermann Kelly is pleased though. Flamin' Irexiter not in last place for President.

(Signed a rural folk with some "experience" of Travellers if it comes to that.)

Ok Gallagher, so what have you been doing since December then once the RTE case was settled?

Most of them live in urban areas don't they? Why is this always being painted as a rural issue?
Anyway nothing he's said is a reason to elect him president and plenty of what he's said are good reasons not to.

Duffy maybe fed up trying to be "Mr Nice Dwagon", and looking like coming in last of the three (and of all six, indeed). After they rowed into the race after him, turning the whole exercise into an utter farce...

That's up to the voters to decide, not the 'intellectuals' on internet forums!
