Nearly finished finalising my setup BUT I can’t see how to add favourites...
I can jump around the various bouquets, but some, in the house, prefer the way the old Ariva worked and there are 5 of them in the house and just one Tiviar. The Arive is set up as Saorview on channels 1-9 then BBC / ITV etc. up to channel 35 then a few other favourites up to channel 80 and that was it.. so it was easy to memorise favourite channels.. RTE 1 was No 1 and RTE 2 no2. Channel 4 was number 11 and BBC 2 was number 14… etc…

Finally the white arc of light on the front of the unit are very bright and distracting, can they be dimmed, or better turned off.?

    To dim the display
    MENU>SETUP>USAGE&GUI>DISPLAY>DISPLAY SETTINGS
    should work.

The easiest way to create or edit bouquets is to use the WEBIF function. Enter the box network address (192.168.xxx.xxx) into any web browser on the same network. You can create a bouquet called favourites (or whatever). You may find it easier to start from an existing bouquet and simply add the other channels you want. You can have any mix of channels, in any order you like.

    Hi guys,

Have been really enjoying and grateful for all the advise to date. However after a power surge it looks like the box is bricked. There was a mcb tripped today from a short in a plug and when I reset the breaker the box came back on but is stuck on

    RUN Alpha +

and will not go any further. I have tried flashing the image on this thread (tks THHB) and nothing. Tried flashing open atv on its own and still nothing.

Anything else I should/ could be doing please????????

So thanks to WOS who were very fast to respond to my problem, tks also here to THHB who offered some assistance.

Anyhow, to resolve was to flash with Openvix in rear lower UBS port. All sorted.
Maybe of some use to someone going forward.

Now to get it all nice a tidy again.......

Glad you got sorted. When you get a chance I strongly recommend you make a backup of your settings by using the BLUE button. It only takes a few seconds but can save hours of swearing;)

Yes I am well used to that, first thing I did to USB and HDD.

Am I correct in saying that the Ipad IOS apps do not work.?

I have tried it a few times.. and no joy... then I found a link to say it is not working.// --wondered was that still the case.?#

I have just noticed that the Bouquet that I saved yesterday has disappeared. I do have a backup.
Does it have to be reloaded every day ?

Autobouquetmaker and Autobouquets will overwrite if they're set to run on a schedule. You need to put them in favourites, create a new bouquet and set it to not overwrite or else disable the plugin running aromatically. My image has Autobouquetmaker scheduled to run during the night

Ahh so that explains it, although I can see it on the telly I cannot on Openwebif from the PC even I have the green switch on and "reload"..

Is favourites set to not overwrite...if so I will just bang them in there.

canI set it not to overwrite from the Openwebif >?

, funny as well the the backup, only held the terestial channels when there was a mix of terestial and satellite... all NOT very intuitive. !

As always all help / guidence appreciated.

Hi, that works fine, but doesn’t appear to do anything with the two bright lights. Have I missed something, or will I have to use something like semi-transparent tape?

I set up a number of bouquets - Entertainment, News, Films, Sports..., to make it easier to use. I also removed the autobouquets maker, as I’ll just handle any updates manually. This had the advantage that I could order the channels exactly as I/we wanted them. This is so much better than Sky. (Mind you, I do use CrossEPG, as the program descriptions are much better from Sky.)

I think that the settings can be transferred between boxes . I can easily post them if anyone is interested. The box is running on OpenATV 6.2 and I’ve also updated all the software packets, as of today. I can easily post it online, if it is of interest to anyone.

    It doesn't work.

    I had to use tape.

There is a large blank black box on my recorded programs in the top left hand corner?? Any ideas why this is happening, how to solve it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,722 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

Probably picture in picture was enabled. Dont have the box/remote near me but try the pip buttons on bottom of remote. You might have to press them multiple times for it to disable the pip.

edit: missed part about recorded programs, try it anyways if you havent already.

Love this box, recordings are perfect and series linked, picon(s) working, epg working with thanks to all the great people on this site.

However, just a few issues :

In the past, I could move the channels up or down the bouquet. This option is no longer available on my box, more than likely due to something I have done. Anyway of getting in back ?

Also the auto bouquets and auto bouquets maker have also gone missing. Again more than likely due to something I have ticked in a menu somewhere.
As is the weather location option. (Already have the code to enter for my town)

any ideas on how to get them back ?

When I want to listen to the radio stations, RTE ones on 2rn work perfect, as does the Absolute radio stations, but once I press any BBC radio station, I am informed that there is a software issue, and the box reboots itself.

Virgin Media picons have been made available on this thread. Question is, can I just add them to my existing folder called picon, and reboot the box and they will appear ?

So many questions, I know, but if you can help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

If you only want to move a few channels you can do it directly on the box. Open the bouquet you want to edit, press MENU and select ENABLE MOVE MODE. Highlight the channel you wish to move and use the UP/DOWN arrows to move the channel. Press OK when at the new location. Repeat as needed for other channels. Remember to hit MENU and select DISABLE MOVE MODE when finished.
Can't comment on auto bouquet stuff as I never use them. They seem more trouble than they're worth for the very rare times that a main channel changes.
New picons can just be added to the folder however there are two different naming conventions in use. Depending on the software/image on your box the picon might use the channel name or a long code number. You will know by looking at the existing picon file names.

    Thank you Gerry.
However, the "ENABLE MOVE MODE" option is not showing up when I Open the bouquet I want to edit, and then press MENU.
Any ideas as to why this is ?

When you're on a channel in a bouquet press up or down arrow. When the list of channels is up then press menu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

As Sligojoek says, pressing the up/down button should bring up the bouquet on screen. Pressing MENU should offer this list of options (actual appearance varies with different skins)

Alternatively use the Webif by entering the box network address (192.168.xxx.xxx) into any web browser on your home network.

Gerry, How do you get the pic on the left to come on? I just get a graphic of a film reel with a play arrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 574 ✭✭✭PacMan

    Thanks for the replies.
I have done as all of you have mentioned.
The lists on the menu are the same as the image from Gerry Wicklow, except the "Enable Move mode" is missing from my menu.
Any ideas on how to get this "back" ?
I must have ticked something, somewhere in some menu to make this not list in the menu.

    Thanks

That's the default setting for that skin "Vali HD" I've no idea how or if it's switchable.

Best I can suggest is you try editing the bouquets from the web interface instead. It also does a lot of other very useful things too.

    464654.jpg

Option to edit bouquets is bottom left of screen. You can drag and drop the individual channels as needed on the right-hand list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 574 ✭✭✭PacMan

I noticed in Gerry's post, that "Enable Move Mode" is listed as option 6.
So I pressed 6 on the remote, and it worked !!
    Success.
Even though the "Enable Move Mode" is not visible on the menu, by pressing "6" on the remote brought up the move mode, and the result is one happy person here.

Many Thanks for all your replies and help.

now, to sort out my radio settings, and work out how the BBC radio stations are causing the box to re boot.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

You seem to be having some very peculiar issues. I wonder would a clean install be a better option? From the BLUE button you can choose to download and flash the latest daily version. During this process it will also offer to backup your settings and existing image if you need to go back. Of course, as I keep preaching, it makes sense to regularly make a backup of your settings anyway from the BLUE button.

Just a heads up so people dont get lost like I did.
In webif , to move the channels up and down the boquet list on the right hand side by drag and drop, make sure you click on the small triple horizontal bar icon to the left of the channel name.

Took me ages to figure that one out.

yes I do listen to the radio on both saorview and at 28 degrees

I tried two plugins for web radio, for you - WebRadioFS and TuneInRadio.
The first one has a poor user interface, though it had a massive list of stations.

Tune In Radio has a friendly UI and shows screenshots that matches the music playing. It is straightforward to setup and use and Ive decided to keep it.
