If anyone's looking for a podcast to listen to it should be all of Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Then move on to Danielle Bolleli's History on Fire. After that Casefile and Welcome to Night Vale. Once you've got that done pass the time with the Joe Rogan Experience. If you manage to keep up with Joe's 5 podcasts a week output seeing as you have a never ending appetite for MMA, bow-hunting, badly presented conspiracy theories and why marijuana should be legalised then look for a new podcast. Dan Snow's History Hit is a good place to start.

I just started to listen to hardcore history recently. I recommend you subscribe now and download everything, you can only go back as far as 48. Current episode is 60, so you'll only get 13 episodes. You can buy the older ones (1-47) from the website. I got them through different means :pac: and they were that good I felt bad and donated to the official website!

Some big topics have a few episodes, Blueprint for Armageddon is available now if you subscribe which is on WW1 (episode 50-55), probably the longest series he's done and I think it's the best. Probably the only podcast I'd even consider re-listening to is HH. He takes about 6 months for a podcast to come out, so you won't be swamped with new stuff every week. Also, his common sense podcast is great, but again, nothing new is out in ages.

Prophets of Doom is the best Hardcore History one I've listened to, and it's #48 so will be gone when a new one comes out.

I'm listening to Heaven's Gate about the cult of the same name that ended in a mass suicide.

It's only two episodes in, but very interesting so far. The guy presenting was alien a different cult himself. Worth checking out.

    Dan Snows History Hit
Really brilliant podcast on all sorts of fascinating events in history the big stuff like the world wars and Roman ingenuity to ones on explorers and lesser known stories about big historical events and random stuff like the Templars and Amelia eitheart. Mad range of topics.

Really brilliant give it a shot. He gets authors and historians on that know their stuff and talk passionately about their topic. Can’t recommend it enough.

Just started Jon Ronsons 'the butterfly effect '. Talks about a tech geek who bought out pornhub etc and made a fortune and goes into the knock on effect for every one else in that industry, very enjoyable.

I listened to it a few weeks ago and found it fascinating.

Blinddboy Boat club of the Rubberbandits started a podcast a few weeks ago, absolutely brilliant, not what you think it is, definitely worth checking out.

    Hi CWF.

Is it called 'The Blindboy Podcast'?

I'm currently 2 shows in. Yes, it is excellent. Damn funny parts peppered in also. :D

There’s one episode where it gets Real cringe. He’s going on about Kevin Spacey being a Rapey prick n all that and then minutes later going on about being on the al porter radio and having a great laugh with him.
Obviously recorded prior to that news emerging but it was a real skin crawler moment :)

I'd highly recommend School of Movies:

    https://schoolofmovies.podbean.com/

They have very interesting, in-depth podcasts on mainly movies with the occasional TV and video games. They really take a psychoanalytical approach to the movie discussions that's very appealing, I think.

I hope you don't mind me promoting my own podcast, with backpagefootball.com - the Back Page Football podcast.

The podcast has been off and on for a number of years now, but we're having another crack at it this season. It's available on iTunes and all good podcast apps and I'm working to have it added to more.

Still early days and getting comfortable with each other and ironing out the kinks, but all subscriptions, feedback and comments would be greatly appreciated.

The website was actually founded within the realms of Boards.ie way back in the day, so support your own :p

Managed ten minutes of the Deadpool 2 review.

    I'll stick with Kermode! :pac:

    Seriously on BBC Radio 4
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p021gdts
Listened to a couple and the most recent one called The Five Foot Shelf was amazing. Seems to me these are podcasted highlights of documentaries being produced by the BBC. The Five Foot Shelf was asking people what book they would put on other people's essential reading list and how it influenced them etc. Very well produced and a few short music excerpts which I find always break up a long episode of listening to conversation.

Enjoying is probably the wrong word for this, but the new podcast about the surgeon Christopher Duntsch "Dr Death" from Wondery is really interesting. It isn't for the squeamish (it goes into a lot of detail about medical malpractice involving spinal surgery) but it is fascinating to see how the entire saga developed.

It's three episodes into a six episode series and I'm waiting for more to be released!

Have been listening to the podcast "Slow Burn" after a recommendation. The first season (8 episodes) breaks down the Watergate scandal and resulting impeachment. Everyone roughly knows what went down at Watergate but having not grown up in the era I never knew how bad this was. Trump ain't got nothing on Tricky Dicky.

The second season (haven't listened to it yet) is about Bill Clinton and his lewd behaviour and, of course, the resulting impeachment.

I just cancelled my Slate membership as I wasn't sure if I was getting great value from it and it's pricey after the first year. I never got around to listening to Slow Burn which I regret now as it would have been ad free and I'd have access to the bonus episodes. Has anyone who listened to both seasons any idea what the bonus content is like?

Also, Slate culture gabfest talked about the 'Uncover: Escaping NXIVM' which I've started listening to as a result. Anyone else listen to it?

Going to give this a shot, have the 1st episode of Season 2 downloaded there, you've got to love Bill

Hey lads. Any recommendations on a new pod. I like things like serial season one, S-town and up and vanished. I’ve listened to countless TERRIBLE pods since all trying to jump on the true crime bandwagon but nothing has come close.

    Suggestions?

Just the first one. Found it quite disturbing and powerful.
