    Not really. Have you every tried to work for two opposing jobs, played yourself in chess or held two diametrically opposing points of view? You cant serve two masters. Being Muslim is being about promoting Islam and being a police officer is about civil law. You cannot serve the two.

    Sorry, but you don't know how the law works in the UK. Sharia divorces are NOT recognised by the courts. You need to obtain a civil one as well to be divorced in the eyes of the law.

    Oh - and Muslims can and do serve in the police force and the army. Fancy that!

    not in britain it isn't. Tradtional sharia marriages (known as Nikah) are now recognised as marriages in the UK and all divorces have to go through the normal divorce courts.

    You really dont have a balls notion what you are talking about. Police are concerned with CRIMINAL law not CIVIL. Go to the police about a civil matter and they will tell you to take a hike.

    you need to actually read things before posting them. That is concerned with the validity of islamic marriages (the Nikah i referred to earlier) not with islamic divorces. The articles make the point that islamic marriages must go through the same divorce courts as other marriages and the change in law STRENGTHENS the position of women in islamic marriages

    Why would you be against this decision?

    The case will have significant implications for women who marry under sharia law but not UK law and could give them the right to divorce their husbands and split the assets related to the union, as well as securing a divorce more easily.
