Eglobal haven't replied to my email from a week ago nor my email from 24 hours ago, I ordered the phone over 4 weeks ago, and their "updates" are useless.

Is it best to go after the money through a PayPal dispute?

I had insured shipping if that makes a difference...

After 4 weeks I'd raise a dispute through PayPal, if nothing else it should get eGlobal's attention.

My courier progress so far, not quite sure whether it means the phone is at a sorting depot close by (UK/EU) or is still at the couriers sort facility in Hong Kong in which case it hasn't progressed much in a week!!

I'll go through PayPal so, I'll just give them a couple of more hours to respond, as it's 3:30pm in China.

Just an FYI for anyone who's ordered via the solution shop, I mailed them again this morning and got an autoresponder saying they've shipped a load of orders last night and it'll take a while for their site / tracking system to update.

ETA: In the comments section when I was placing the order I requested a 3 pin UK plug, when I spoke to their support the other day they confirmed that it would ship with one, will let you know if that's the case when it arrives.

Ordered from Honorbuy at 5pm on Monday evening and it was just delivered by DHL. Highly recommend them. Worked out at €320 all in

Uggh crack appeared on right hand corner of screen today. Have been using the supplied cover.

Dropped it on bedroom floor this morning but it was a light drop and didn't notice the crack until now.

very disappointed. I know I should have got a more heavy duty protector, be warned!

bummer. don't have the phone but it seemed like with the raised edges at the front that this was always going to be an issue with this phone.

there are probably videos up on youtube already on how to replace but I guess that you'd need a heatgun to try it yourself.

    edit.

actaully doesn't seem that complicated comparatively. one advantage of the plastic case-back

Advantages of IPS LCD screens , cheap like penates , no need for tempered glass protector ,
you would pay over €100 for mi 8 AMOLED screen.

Yeah the raised screen is the issue. Bit late for me , but does anyone know of a cover that offers decent protection

    Hi Poco gang,

Have to say, this PocoPhone is amazing, have successfully de-bloated it and all google apps.

There's some that I cannot simply get rid of, messaging, gallery and file manager.

Blazingly fast, overall. Fitted nano sim and the sdcard no problem.

Am getting the hang of MIUI, its starting to grow on me.

Still, am keeping an eye on Lineage until it becomes stable for everyday usage.

    Cheers

I actually love MIUI now, with NOVA launcher on top, so many nice little features that I keep noticing, like yesterday I saw on an active call next to the loudspeaker button you have the option to record the phone call, countless little touches like that. Thats on Mi Max 3 not POCO btw. Doesnt seem to be the drag on the battery that people claimed either once you debloat, my battery level basically does not drop in standby, if I dont use the phone for a few hours the battery will be the same as when I left it down, Whatsapp is more of a drain than Android System/MIUI, unlike past phones.

Just a quick update on eGlobal.

I ordered from them on Sat Oct 6th and the tracking info confirms the parcel arrived into my local An Post depot today so should be delivered Monday.

Just over a week from order to delivery isn't too bad at all IMHO.

Looking at picking up one of these too - would I be right in saying it's a throw up between HonorBuy and eGlobal? Price is similar, but Honorbuy looks to be delivering in a few days consistently.

Yep you would want to watch that tho as by default MIUI is very aggressive at killing any apps in the background that didn't come with the phone. EG, was killing the Pebble watch, Google Music and Google's Find My Phone' apps every 30 mins if I put the phone down...You have to change a few settings dotted around the UI to stop this carry-on.

It's like White-listing apps you want it to leave alone... but still gives amazing battery life as a trade-off. Also it views some default app changes as a 'Security threat' like changing the text messaging app from its own to Google's Messages. It also keeps trying to push its own browser, video playback apps and sometimes it's own app store over my choice even after I set it up in the settings.

I'm well use to MIUI as I've had Xiaomi phones before but those who are new to it may find its passive aggressive behavior off putting.

An post deliver on a Saturday who new. Got the global version with 2 pin plug and converter.
Can't wait to get home and get it set up. Will miss my old op3 but looking forward to better battery life tbh.
Happy out it's not much bigger than the op3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 613 ✭✭✭t0mm13b

From previous postings about eglobal, they are on very shaky grounds.

Go with Honorbuy, ordered mine in four days.

I know, can't believe they've finally joined the rest of the real world!!

Mine was delivered today and in fairness to eGlobal they packed it pretty well.

It's all down to wherether phone is actually in stock and if customs delay that shipment. Luck of the draw. Can be one week to two weeks or a bit of a mess. Up to you if you want to get the cheapest price or pay more on another site. Just be aware of the trade-off.

Day one impression very impressed tbh. Messing with it all day full install of all apps backups restored and used all day still 30 percent battery left.
Cons only one colour on the led. And the bright miui skin is awful why they don't have a dark skin is beyond me. Can't seem to get the battery percentage on the notch yes I know it's on the pull down but still.

Can I ask if there's any issue with Netflix HD licensing on the Pocophone? I recall hearing or reading somewhere that Netflix is only viewable on SD rather than HD on the phone due to Xiaomi not paying the HD licence.

It doesn't have the hardware encoder needed. Poco have said they might try a software patc. Now can me stupid but watched a few mins last night b don't really notice it

Every 845 snapdragon cpu capable of Widevine L1
Xiaomi just never bothered to pass certification which is FREE .
Due to security reasons no fix is possible OTA update AFAIK

Sounds about right. Nether Netflix nor Amazon HD will be supported. And I don't believe it's something that can be added later on via software?

I'm with mi for years but am looking forward ( for months when bobs allow me) to getting a pure android like the 6.1 plus, personally find mi invasive, great phones, battery life etc,but yes always pushing their stuff in your face, like an annoying salesman at your door

It's really not that big of a deal. 540p looks fine on a screen that small.
