After a lot of communication to Google support and my having to provide them with a tracking number that they provided me to return the so called b pristine refurbished device, I eventually received a confirmation email say another device was shipped today. Hopefully l have it Monday or Tuesday.
I really have to get a more modern spare phone than the HTC one mini running kit kat lol

Received a new replacement phone with all the accessories etc yesterday, to replace the faulty refurbished one that they sent me.
    So far so good!

Listed as one of their four new markets.

Nice of them to finally sell it in their tax haven.

Ah just noticed it, this Christmas could prove expensive!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,816 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

    Minimum €900, jesus christ...

To think it was only five years ago when you could get the most expensive Nexus 5 configuration for €400 :(

Has anybody had any luck in receiving a replacement headphone dongle from Google?

Mine has suddenly stopped working and they have offered to ship a replacement to somewhere in the UK but can't ship to Ireland. I know I could post it to Parcel Motel but trying to avoid having to pay..

After checking out a bit more, apparently some devices got re-enrolled in the Android Beta program so won't OTA update.

    Check here: https://www.google.com/android/beta#devices

and opt out if it's enrolled and after a few tries you should get the October patch. Mine's just updating now.

Random Android P thought. I find myself very much less inclined to use the recents function with the new horizontal set up.

I use it a bit more now, though it's not a lot as I never ever used it the old way. I just find it easier to use the app shortcut.

Mine is causing me issues at the moment but I'm not sure if it's the dongle or the port. Were you able to prove it was the dongle by trying it on another phone or trying another dongle on your phone.

At £12 I was tempted to just upgrade to the new wired phones instead.

Anyone buy the wired pixel buds for the 2? I did and I'm not 100% about them yet. The fit is strange and takes a lot of adjust to get anywhere near right. They take a bit of getting used to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,383 ✭✭✭S.M.B.

I was going to buy might not based on that feedback.

I picked up a 2 xl cheap a couple of weeks ago. Half thinking maybe it'll be good enough to stick with or just keep me going for awhile anyway.

Its mostly a great phone but the screen definitely does have issues. Im seeing 3 things: graininess, pretty bad black smear when the brightness is down, and weird colour temperature shifting, as in the hue of the screen will change from blueish to redish for seemingly no reason.

Just trying to figure if these are tolerable. The price of the Pixel 3 is just too much. Decisions decisions.
