New studio ha! Where is it now, Scott Mitchell's spare room instead of Lorraine's lol! Such a disaster of a pirate, they really are.

Franks shows on Hot fm must be so good that they are worth replaying multiple times. Check the Hot fm facebook page as they are setting up a new studio. Doesnt matter how many studios they have they still sound terrible on fm.

did they lose all the equipment from their old studio when they got locked out i wonder?

NOW fm having some more technical problems. It's as if two songs are fighting to play at the same time you you get a few seconds of a song every now and again. Either that or somebody is jamming them with the irish top 40.

If they got a reliable output system and got a few djs who knew what they were doing it would make for a good station. Right now it's in the same category as Hot and we all know how much of a shambles that is.

Spot on there! Funny you mention this, they literally just posted a video on Facebook a few minutes ago thanking their "engineers".

    Funny because they have none.

87.6 Chill - weak signal but very good audio
88.1 PVR - strong signal and good audio,
91.0 Hot - no RDS, very poor signal and audio.
91.6 Now - signal good and audio improving
93.2 KISS - off air today
99.5 Fresh Fm - good signal and audio.
105.7 Retro Now coming through weak. Interference from low power no.1 fm relay in Area.
107.1 Trax - excellent signal and excellent audio

Trax 107.1 is the best, in my opinion anyway. Super sounding old skool memories all day with some classic trance thrown in.

If there was only a trance pirate, now that would be the icing on the cake I think.

Also noticed that the Online stream keeps cutting out on NowFm

Amazing DAB and FM DX conditions today in Wexford. All DAB from South Wales booming in even Wenvoe from just outside Cardiff at a distance of 250 KM. Also North Hessary Plymouth at 274 KM. Sometimes FM from these points is receivable but in my experience very rarely DAB. And in FM a couple of unidentified French stations and Kiss FM from Mendip Pen hill in Somerset on 101FM at 300KM. If anybody is interested in that sort of thing!

Yes exceptional conditions, amongst others I was receiving a relatively good signal from Heart South Wales on 105.4 (from near Cardiff) on car radio around 5PM. Didn't quite manage RDS but clear mono reception. (PS: it was surprising RDS did not appear, possibly their RDS subcarrier is set a bit low)

THe French Classical music network was just about audible on 89.4, from Brest

Indeed, this is some of the best map conditions I have seen in quite some time: http://www.dxinfocentre.com/tropo_nwe.html

Someone fixed Hot FM'S audio processing. Still a few dodgy sounding low quality tracks in their playlist though. Getting ready for their "launch"...

Yes I was also receiving Heart South Wales on 105.4 but morning time for me around 6:30am.
I was on the way to work to Limerick, and it was very strong in Clonmel area also with no RDS, but lost the signal on the way to Cahir.

Hot fm have fixed their tech issues. reception has much improved. Station now has rds and in stereo. Also can be picked up as far as drogheda

I had the opportunity yesterday around midday and aimed a 'Grid' aerial in that direction. One Freeview Mux would decode (on UHF Ch 28) carrying BBC TV and radio. Attached pic of some of the radio listings (BBC nationals and locals). I could also get BBC MUX on ch 43 from Presely, south west wales,

They just need to find a working keygen and then their RDS won't say "Automate demo". If they had brains they would be dangerous.

Airomate is only €30. Everyone who uses it should buy a copy, it won't break the bank.

Are you kidding me? Airomate? This software not updated since 2007. Latest supported OS windows xp. Middle ages.

  • Registered Users Posts: 158 ✭✭hustlergraham

It is old indeed and most audio processing software today has RDS built in to it, but Airomate still works fine.

Keep in mind, Hot FM are not technical at all. They may have just did a Google search and that came up.

It works perfect as a standalone software RDS encoder. It doesn't really need updates and works even on Windows 10.

Newstalk from Mullaghanish (107.4) was off for a time last night, it came back sometime before 1AM

Also multi-city temporary station WIMS (Walk in my Shoes) in test mode in recent days before launch next week (Monday the 8th to Friday the 12th)

Listened to NOW FM the last few mornings and evenings on the way to and from work and find it very repetitive. Think the songs are actually in the same order too. Does anyone know if they plan to widen their playlist? The choices are good but hearing them too often.

To answer my own post, it sounds like some new songs have been added!

Just so your not talking to yourself :pac:

Playlist has gained more songs. They must have changed the aerial setup as it seems to be more focused on Dublin now, I used to be able to get it out as far as Maynooth but it's not as strong anymore but over all the signal is stronger.

HOT FM seems to have improved also in terms of signal and audio since I last listened.

Current preset list is a bit unusual to say the least!

Trax, PHV, RTE R1, NOW, KISS, Dublin City FM.

Can anyone explain why there’s always a mishmash of Beat/WLR on 88.0 in Dungarvan? It must have RDS in common with WLR because if left on it always switches automatically to WLR’s strongest freq

    102.2 - 95.1 = 7.1
    95.1 - 7.1 = 88.0

I've had similar on radios where the signal is very strong and it causes these type of spurious signals on frequencies around the band

After all the money they spent on studios, transmitter s etc. The have one jingle (hot fm). Which they play over and over. There djs are using jingles from old stations they used to work with and just adding hot fm to the end of it.
Surly it can't be that expensive to buy some new jingles
