I’m not going to get into a pissing contest with you but my understanding of mathematics and taxation is fine. You’re not directly funding her lifestyle any more than I am, you’re paying into a pot which is distributed in various ways to various stakeholders. There’s no point in saying “if she and her like didn’t exist”, when the fact is that they do exist already. If Government policies changed and Ms. Cash were not entitled to any financial assistance from the State, the money that the Government takes in in revenue would simply be diverted elsewhere to be pissed down the drain, as successive Governments have tended to do.

Apart from that, I don’t know what welfare payments Ms. Cash is receiving from the State, what I do know is that some welfare payments are taxable, though I’d only be speculating as to how much of her welfare payments are taken in tax as like anyone else here I’m not privy to the full extent of her circumstances. What I also know is that whatever welfare payments she is claiming have nothing to do with the average wage. Child benefit for example if she is claiming it, she is receiving the same rate as anyone else with an equal number of children, whether or not they too are either employed or unemployed and whatever they may be claiming in welfare payments.

Something is not right here and too many scruffs are sucking off the government tit. The State (you, me and the rest of the country) has income of about €60 billion. What happens during the next downturn? We’ll very quickly have one half paying for the other half.

Not that you’re likely to care one way or the other, but I won’t be in the shìt pit. I agree with you that something isn’t right and I believe the figure of income from Revenue according to recent figures released in July was €72Bn in Income vs €74Bn in Expenditure (seems the Government have trouble with mathematics too, which would explain the €200Bn in Government debt that’s also been increasing exponentially year on year). What happens during the next downturn is basically that we’ll still have the same tits in Government after a giveaway budget and a ballooning economy, which will burst in about... ohh give it another five years or so before the economy will go tits-up again.

You seem to have a thinly veiled hard on for civil/public service bashing. In fact you seem to blame everything else except the problem. The problem is people like you and her. Offended by everything. Ashamed of nothing.

Thinly veiled? Sorry if it wasn’t obvious. I find the waste of resources in the civil and public services utterly contemptible. We’re a first world country with third-rate public services.That is exactly the problem, not Ms. Cash or her like. She is but a symptom of the underlying rot in the public decking that’s falling asunder. The problem isn’t me either, and I’m not offended at all or ashamed to point out that we’re not getting value for money. It’s quite clear we’re not, but another giveaway budget should keep the general public happy for another while.

I don't think the work place is the best place to get to know people. People are afraid to speak their true feelings because they'd know they could land themselves in trouble with HR.
It's the same with life in general people knows they are certain things you can't say in front of certain people.
I'm a very relaxed guy and people can say anything to me without me getting the hump or falling out with them.
