she will have to pay for it ...so its a big no-no

Ain't that the truth. Imagine, the check of me expecting her to pay for a roof over her children's heads, which she is capable of doing out of the handsome pocket money the state gives her.

She's fantastic altogether, forcing her children to sleep in random places.

There’s no homeless crisis in Ireland, there’s a ‘Foreva Home’ crisis.

No genuine homeless family would turn down the offer of a house.

you're right, they want close to their mums, shops, social welfare and post offices

Saying the f**king children upsets some people. So don't use words like that.
However feel free to discuss things about this situation.
Like how did the situation happen?
Being either Margaret's one or other people you know?
How can this be fixed being it by the government or people's themselves.
Margaret is also very active on social media and the media in general so these things will be discussed of course because this is a discussion forum.
    All within reason of course.
No naughty words or over generalising

    This is what annoys me.

No questions are ever put to these “homeless” people.

We’re just expected to believe that 10,000 people have been turfed out into the streets and that’s it.

No back stories, no question of personal responsibility.

It’s just da gubberment fault and Eoghan Murphy.

Nearly 7000 dwellings listed on AirBnB as of 23 Feb this year. That includes single rooms, to chalets to houses and apartments.

How many whole properties? You know, the type suitable for families, built for families but rented out as a business?

    Thanks for the feed back.
I am happy enough with my reply.
It's just reminding people to behave themselves and this is a discussion forum so lots of things will be discussed.

Lets hope that train will soon be leaving the station to personal responsibility ville and we can get back to what is a real issue of affordable housing and the genuine homeless problem. People who are willing to work and contribute to society but in the present climate can't get accommodation or can't get assistance from schemes because the whole thing is clogged up with possibly 30-40% pure wasters. If the pinnacle of your ambition is a free house and social welfare for you and this is also your hope for your kids well you can F*ck right off

I'm not spending the next couple of hours doing something you can yourself MA. You make it sound as if AirBnB is responsible for the crisis. As I said there is 7000 rentals on Airbnb and quite a number of them are single and double rooms also plenty of places in the ass end of nowhere, suitable for nothing other than a long weekend.

    IMO.

The use of Margaret Cash as part or spearhead of any social movement to highlight the 'homeless crisis' is a bad move.

She has too much personal 'social media baggage' and it has a negative effect on the protests. As soon as I hear her name, my ears switch off.

For me, her inclusion in protests about housing issues, turns into a reason to oppose, dismiss and even resent the protests, which in turn loses it's legitimacy.

Unfortunately it’s worse and worse it’s going to get. All that is happening now is council houses are being built for those who don’t want to work and refugees. They are out to extract money out of the system and leaving the worker pay for it.

I would love to see a compiled list of Councillors/TD/Senators who are also landlords , just to get an idea of how the land lies.

I have no doubt that what you say is true even though it is social suicide both economically and culturally. The scum at the bottom and the scum at the top both feeding of the mugs in the middle, I think I'll leave and let them at each other

Agreed. Struggling to understand what the issue is. It's also been added to first post. Any chance of some clarification?

In Dublin alone there are 306 whole properties available for rent on AirBnB. Imagine if they were used for the purpose they were built for?

Basically attacking Cash herself is acceptable to the powers that be, having a go at her kids is not

But surely it’s at the owners discretion what he or she does with the property? If landlords had any real rights it might entice more people to become a landlord but if a tenant stops paying their rent, that’s tough luck on the landlord.

You mean to house people? They are just on a short term basis. I find this strange you have an issue as do many with protestors occupying an empty building to highlight the crisis but yet you want others to use their property in a manner that you demand trampling over their property rights . Odd views.

Knock yourself out. Their property holdings etc. are online for all to see every year.

41 of those appear when you search for 8 people (5 children, the max on the search and 3 adults) They are mostly country manors and would not be suitable to meet the needs for various reasons.

265 properties left, how many homeless again?

You are completely misunderstanding my point. The homes were built as family homes. For buying or renting for years. Not as holiday lets for a night, week, whatever. My point is ban use of complete properties for short term lets and get them back in the market for families.

Nothing wrong with families letting the spare room for short or indeed long term lets.

So you object to people using their property as they see fit? I didn't have you pegged as a socialist.

Once again you’re misunderstanding my point. They weren’t built for use as anything other than homes. Not hotels, guesthouses, etc. Homes for people. Families. Couples. Singles.

What they were built for is irrelevant, they are someone's private property.

Where to even start on that complete murder of English with a small dash of sarcasm and large dollop of bias thrown in?

    No, can't be bothered.
