One of my main beam bulbs gone on the 2005 skoda superb, internet is telling me it's a h3 bulb, thought it was going to be some expensive xenon thing?

Re expensive bulbs, bought osram xenon regular bulbs almost a year ago from powerbulbs and one failed week ago. Sent it back and just received replacement night breaker unlimited.

No hassle and the warranty works just fine. Had to pay 6 euro to post it back, but received replacement worth 20 pounds more. Happy enough :)

Good afternoon, gents. Quick question for you knowledgeable motor-heads.

I've an '07 Corolla van, 1.4D4D, who's head-gasket is gone. I'm going about sourcing an engine to stick in and see that Meegan's are selling an exceptionally low mileage 1.4D4D from an '04 Yaris, engine code 1ND-TV (means nothing to me but undoubtedly relevant).

Am I correct in assuming it's the same engine and a possible option? Cheers, folks.

One of those "meet every cnut on the road" journeys home from work! Crawling drivers on roads that there are few chances to overtake, and the worst ones - those who crawl around bends but speed up when the road goes clear....

Overtook a jeep who put the shoe down when I was overtaking him, then beeps at me because I was wrong

OTOH had a great blast over the top of the Mullinavat road last night. Shook the cobwebs out, got everything properly heated up and burned the ****e off the brake disks. Nothing dangerous - just squirting around bends with anough margin to get it stopped in case anything showed up around the other side,

The stone chippings after new ross probably tore the arse out of the paint mind

Although it has the same code, it is a different engine to what you currently have, you've got a 90 bhp version while the Yaris is 75 bhp. The turbo is different and there may be other technical differences as well.

Changed my work phone recently to iOS and noticed today that it supports album artwork via Bluetooth. Strange that any Android device I connect does not support it.

Worked for me with a samsung s7 in a 2018 Mustang over here. Was only a rental months ago so I cannot get a pic to prove it though

How come? Seems odd it works on one os but not the other. No biggie, but the whole reason I got them to send me an iPhone was for the Spotify app integration. Today the iPhone paired via Bluetooth and started playing and the album art came up straight away. I thought it needed plugged in for that.

BMW just seem to limit Android integration across the board.

The irony that they allow the most limited smartphones though (iPhone).

Must be a security concern for them I guess

    I'd say it's a deal with Apple.

It’s more that iOS is limited, but that’s more a Google vs Apple thing.
iPhones are limited in terms of physical storage, battery replacement etc.

Buying a 2016 Toyota Yaris from main dealer. Car checked and not crashed or anything, all clear. The front bumper though is slightly darker than the rest of the car. Slightly different but noticeable enough (Sorry don't have pics). It's a metallic red. Dealer insists it's fairly normal these days with plastic bumpers and light metallic colours. Is that right?

Sounds rubbish to me. I'd say the bumper was resprayed, it can be difficult to match colours perfectly so perhaps it's not something to be too worried about. It may have just been a light scuff on the bumper that meant they had to respray.

Really? I was actually keeping an eye out today at other cars and did see some differences on other cars. It's from a main dealer so I'd hope there's nothing funny going on.

Have seen many new cars been delivered over the years with bumpers a slight bit darker than the rest of the body

Lots of parts on your car are plastic and painted however. Front bumper, wing mirrors and maybe other parts. I presume the car you're looking at is otherwise consistent in colour?

And as for seeing it around a lot. I suppose it's a common enough occurrence for cars to have panels resprayed.

EDIT: Just to say, perhaps these is some reasonable explanation to this... It just seems an odd reason to me.

Maybe thats what they want you to think.
It may just have been just scratched or worst case you could be dealing with hidden problem and corosion behind the bumper in future.

I've worked on a lot of new cars this year and I'd say 70%+ of them have had a repainted panel somewhere. Bumpers being a shade off is not uncommon, especially on odder colours like wine's, deep blues etc. Often they have been resprayed though and there can be a difference in paint shade and even a massive difference of metallic flake count.

I wouldn't be worried about it myself to be honest if the rest of the car checks out. No harm to get it inspected on a lift however. Bring a light with you and inspect it for dirt, this is an easy tell tale sign of a respray, it will look like tiny tiny "bumps" in the paint.

Bumpers having a slightly different shade is pretty common. Depends on the car and colour. Seems to affect lighter metallics, silvers, etc more, to my eyes at least. Plastics reflect light differently to metal and they’re usually painted separately to the rest of the body shell in the factory.

And as Foxhole said above, a huge proportion of of cars, new and old, have some degree of repainting carried out. There’s no great harm in that so long as the job is professionally done to a high standard. Dealers often resort to cheap “smart” repairs though to touch up used stuff.

Speaking of Yaris'. A mates mother recently went from a 151 sportage diesel to a 171 Yaris Hybrid automatic.....a woman in her 50s. Why I do not know, the salesman was definitely laughing anyways, he got the best side of the deal! Paid 2k with the Sportage too. Shur that Yaris will be unsellable in a few years?!?

    Why would it be unsellable?

I dunno, doubt it'd be something people would be jumping at?! Maybe I'm wrong, in a city context I suppose.

Strange, it's exactly the model my wife went for, Yaris Hybrid. She wanted something smallish, automatic, and with decent enough spec. It seems to be the one that ticks all the boxes. I'd say they'd be an easy enough seller.

Maybe your my mates father so!

She hadn't a real rationale for moving from a SUV to the Yaris though.

Probably be worth more than those Sportages in a few years time though to be fair :pac:

Drove the gfs one around dublin city for around 3 hours straight today. You'd struggle to get a better car for it. Theyre really comfortable and almost drive themselves. Nippy enough away from the lights if you need to swap lanes. Its the backroads where you start to feel the weight and lack of a proper gear box. Not much fun to be had there. Doubt she will have much bother selling it.
