If you don't like clicking on unlabeled links, all explained below
On the news which mentions the woman dying when her caravan fell off a cliff, the ident just before the news had giant creatures kicking caravans into the sea

Also, the imagus extension (chrome / firefox) will let you hover over images, gifs and links and they'll start playing or maximise without having to click.

Found out it works for streamable links too.

Sad story and all, but my god, the levels of coincidence there are almost unbelievable.

I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder.

The only thing stopping that becoming a twitter hit is the language.

Why on earth would anyone commission a promo featuring a giant kicking a caravan into the Atlantic?

Yes, they should have ran another ident but id imagine there is a certain level of automation in TV production and i cant imagine this ident was used for the first time yesterday either??

Really?? Im sure it wasnt done deliberately. It seems a genuine oversight to make and it would be hard to produce new idents at a seconds notice because of such a horrific unprecedented event.

I mean the woman is from Switzerland so the chances of her family watching TG4 news are fairly slim too so anyone beyond her immediate family and friends that have been triggered by this well perhaps they need to get a life really.

I didn't say it was deliberate. If you watch it on their player, every time you refresh, you get a different one

It's just a funny, if morbid, coincidence.

Pardon my ignorance - but what the hell is an ident?

It's the little adverts for the channel itself you see at the start and end of ad breaks. Some time a split second one between ads too.

Like the big number 4 doing stuff in Ch4 ad breaks or the BBC '2'.

Gotcha - just copped that clip in the OP (I've a awful habbit of reading threads from end to start!)

It's a little bit eh, unfortunate shall we say!

Social media will make sure that they see it. Since the Journal pull loads of stories from here it'll be in the "news" soon.

It is, isn't it. I wonder is it a bit like algorithms - do the random 'indents' show up to correspond to upcoming news content in the same way adverts pop up online depending on your searches etc. (?)

I can't imagine how it can without the right metadata. And even still, that would be asking for a fukup like this.

Just a very odd and morbid coincidence.

Classic Simpsons is exemplary - riotously funny, not remotely dumbed down, both slapstick and cerebral humour. Who cares that it’s a cartoon? How small-minded of you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,865 ✭✭✭✭TheValeyard

It was a slip up. No big deal. awful as the tragedy was, TG4 did not mean any offence by it.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

    It's just a coincidence.

The things people are triggered by these days.
Calling for someone to be fired over this is ridiculous.

Can guarantee it's automated and nobody remembered that they have one where a giant is firing a caravan into the sea.

**** off getting triggered over nothing really.

This is another type of poster these days. Calling everyone triggered and snowflake after not reading the thread properly.

"Calling for someone to be fired over this is ridiculous". That was one poster and I'd imagine they were firmly tongue in cheek.
