Little bit concerning that it’s only received and not accepted!

Hopefully goverment just pay up and opposition don’t play political football with it around costs!

Just procedure I would assume, absolutely no way that the government won’t accept the tender eventually, too much political colateral damage at risk.

Hopefully and hopefully they haven’t brought a certain wireless operator onboard!

The statement also confirms that the company will have long-term access to open Eir's 1.2 million rural pole infrastructure, as well as their duct network.

Looks like a deal was done with eir.

Nokia also listed as a partner so I assume they'll be using their FTTH products and not Huawei.

There also seems to have been changes to the consortium make up with Granahan McCourt now leading the partnership. enet are now listed as a partner. IIF are no longer listed. I wonder were there state-aid implications that led to the changes?

“Much has been said about the 30Mbps target set by the NBP, but the network we intend to build is a gigabit network, capable of delivering 1,000Mbps,” Peter Hendrick, National Broadband Ireland’s bid director said.

Did anyone watch the Dail committee meeting? Was she asked anything about the agreed access?

I wondered if eir were almost forced into making a deal by commercial decisions.
They must have been worried that Siro could easily decide to move again if the NBP failed this time, as Siro would have gained great experience by the time it mattered ..... both commercially and technically.

A new NBP just might be in Siro's favour.

It's still on. It only started at 5pm and was private at first.

The pieces on the board are moving around so fast, it's difficult to know whether this iteration will last very long.

sign the damn thing and get this going before bexit causes all capital expenditure to be put on hold

Looks like a deal was done with eir.

Surely that is the biggest obstacle passed and it can now proceed. Hopefully Eir will use the cash to bring their rural network infrastructure up to scratch, though it'll probably go on their urban roll-out instead.

Interesting. Huawei usually seems to wipe the board on this stuff. Didn't even know Nokia was a player in this sphere.

Completely agree. Build needs to be well underway by the time Brexit arrives.

It's now just a question of how long the Department decides "the coming weeks" will last before they can announce a "winner". A good day on the face of it.

It's like Eir retails pricing changes. They might have got some pointers there :)

Can't wait for all the Denis O'Brien conspiracy theories to start now that Actavo have been mentioned as part of the tender.

Naughton sounds so confident, the €20 must just be an accepted fact.

    @irelandoffline

Last 10%-15% of NBP (54k - 81k of premises) will be too expensive for FTTH/P says Eircom CEO.

At least somebody is talking realistically.

She has always stated that but it is not really her place to make such statements.

Maybe so but Naughten keeps saying "Every" when that's an out and out lie.

Would anyone have a rough figure/idea for the number of current premises under USO that are served by non-PTSN copper service? Would that be a fair comparator?

Also does Nokia manufacture/supply GPON equipment or just cellular/radio? Otherwise it's an indication of solutions towards the latter for these extra-rural premises.

Nokia took over ALU years back I believe. Not sure if they had their own kit or just use the ALU kit rebadged.

Nokia has always dabled in more than just mobile technology.

For example high end enterprise firewall systems (Nokia IP series, using Checkpoint) and routers.

But also copper and fibre plant.

The same as Ericsson. Or Siemens.
