Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No idea, can't seem to find any in completed listings on ebay earlier.
Theres a repro up for a fiver at the moment but why anyone would want that is beyond me:confused:

Yeah, who the hell would want a repro.... (Hides all his repros)

If you haven't got an Everdrive or somesuch way of loading roms onto a real console, a €5 repro isn't a bad deal really

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for repros, it's just that sonic crackers is more of an engine demo than a game. A repro of that is pointless imo

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,288 ✭✭✭DaveyDave

What's the point of repros? Is it just a way for someone to have a faithful reprint of a rare game?

For me, it has to be original. If a game was so rare it was €500+, I'd just have to live without it. It wouldn't be the same having a repro, might as well just emulate it at that stage. But I'm sure there's more to it, it would be kinda cool to have a bootleg or prototype game.

Interesting, this thread is nearly four years old!
And won't be long before the renaming ceremony begins again.
With 100 posts to go, I'll stick a thread up looking for suggestions.
    No suggestion is too dumb...

    Hold on...

Some suggestions are too dumb, but them anyway!

I'd criticize your choice but I'm finding it hard to come up with ones myself that are not politically incorrect.

Thanks to Kim Justice I've been looking at Sharp X68000 YouTube videos, some machine, the arcade ports look amazing on it.

Would love to get one but could never justify it.

Is it common for PVM's to ever appear on, say, Done Deal? I'm kinda iffy over shipping from outside the country to seriously consider going that route instead.

Nope, as someone who has spent the last 5-10 years searching all Irish sites, it just doesn't happen.

Northern Ireland Broadcast is worth googling as they have the odd thing going for a decent price. (Small Sony CRTs and JVCs with no standard definition board) but otherwise you're looking at UK or Germany.

To get a 20 inch and above broadcast monitor here is an absolute fluke.

I've picked up a few PVM and BVM from this place as well as some other funky bits.

    Do they ship overseas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,885 ✭✭✭Steve X2

    Do they ship overseas?

Generally yes. But it’s sort like ebay in that there are lots of different sellers rather than one big store. I’ve got some amazing gear from that site and really recommend it if you can get your head around how payments work etc(escrow).

I was in Cineworld today noticed they had one of those Star Wars pods I was always interested in trying that. The screen is a novel concept but fairly simple rail shooter gameplay and really low resolution image meant I wasn't as taken with it as I thought I would be.

Does anyone know the story with this type of Mega Drive Rom? It's an old Scene release of Sonic 3 with a split game file. No idea how to get it to play or even join the files

I'm the same, I think most people around here already have PlayStations but they'll still end up getting one of these.

Has to be a yes from me.
I can do without FFVII, but if it has Rage Racer, Air Combat and Jumping Flash games, this is going to be great.

Be interested if there will be some tweaking to improve control in the likes of Jumping Flash.
That game, and it's two sequels, are really good, if a little short. But the controls are bonkers, though this device does not come with Dualshocks, which is a pity, given how many games used them straight out of the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

Ya will probably get one and as with the NES & SNES it will make a brief appearance to get hacked before getting boxed up again to adorn my shelves.

I assume the knockoff PI cases will be available on Aliexpress in about 5 minutes....

Be interesting to see what the security on them is like compared to the Nintendo ones.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,288 ✭✭✭DaveyDave

I'd like to get one, if it doesn't sell out that is. Hopefully Sony are smart enough to produce enough units unlike the NES Mini which ended up being restocked a year later.

    Ye wha?!

It'll be really interesting to see how games run on this. I take it there'll be zero loading times..wonder will they up the resolutions or leave them stock?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,844 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

FF7 has to be on there. It defined the system and is the second best selling game on the system behind GT2.

However there's so many other better PS1 RPGs that could be on it. I'd swap it for Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden 2, and many others including the secret best FF game, FF Tactics. But then people are buying this for FF7 alone :pac:

Mega Drive Mini delayed til 2019, did anyone have an interest in that?

As long as ATgames are behind it i'll have no interest. Disgraceful what they've done to one of the greatest consoles of all time... repeatedly
