Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seen reviews but I haven't seen them anywhere to buy...

These seem to get excellent reviews https://www.e-smokeireland.com/start...-breeze-2.html

Here's a couple of review videos...

Eventually, Juul will launch here, they are planning to launch in the UK soon. Thing is, Juul contains 50mg nicotine so they won't be launching that here, we will probably get the Juul with 20mg nic which considering the low power of the battery will be about as much use as the old pound shop cigalikes.
Unless they get a medical license which would change the game completely, though I doubt they will go that route yet. I think they will test the market with 20mg first in a few areas, the UK as they could drop the 20mg restriction once they leave the EU, and delay the rest of the EU, including Ireland until they have a medical license to launch with the full strength Juul from the start. Still, we will be able to get them from the north the way we got condoms one time. The history of harm reduction goes in circles.

I've ordered from UK over the weekend, you are correct with drop in Nic level...but even at that level it seems like a huge amount!  Anyway will test it out and let you know, any review videos I have watched all say that its the closest thing you can get to a real cig which will be epic if correct!

I bought 6 months supply of Juul 5% pods when I was in Florida. Likely the best decision of my life. Cigarettes are a downgrade in satisfaction now,

Thats who I have ordered off, still waiting on delivery...how long do they usually take?
Have you tried the UK strength yet? I'm 20 a day and getting worried the reduced strength won't cut it! Excited all the same!

Takes about 4 working days. They will not ship the device unless you choose registered (tracked) post.

Yes I have the 1.7% too and as long as you use both fingers to cover the transparent part they are not too bad, but I would be at risk of smoking if I only had those I think. Definitely a big difference between the 5%

USA just launched 4% ones which would also be good.

EU TPD Laws are draconian laws to protect tobacco tax, full stop. EU is a disgrace, they want to add tax to ecigs now too... SCREW EU

No sign of it, ordered 31st August...suggest going the express option as would have saved in the long run with all the packs of cigs I have had to buy!

Did they send it yet? Their site has a big speil about age verification, that could be the issue.

Yes, it was dispatched monday morning and has been "Sent to country of destination" since Wednesday. Very annoying!

    http://www.wildcat.arizona.edu/article/2018/09/o-juul-ban-5ba294dbea3fd

Government want to regulate / ban Juul because its so successful!
JUUL is simply a company that made too much money too fast; it has challenged the tobacco industry and forgotten to invest in the capital of political favors. Yes, vaping is unhealthy, but it is not the worst thing teens are doing to themselves. Vaping does not come with the possibility of instant death due to over-consumption. Teens have died from drinking too much, but the FDA does not go after alcohol companies for putting out drinks with flavors that appeal to a younger demographic, such as Mike’s HARDER. Why not? Is it because prohibition didn’t work out and it would look kind of embarrassing to go for round two? Or are the alcohol companies simply shelling out more than JUUL? The government does not ban products to protect you. It bans in favor of its own interests.

Looking like Juul vape pods have not much effect on living cells:

    https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/juul-labs-presents-findings-from-cytotoxicity-study-at-the-tobacco-science-research-conference-300713777.html
"We are encouraged by the results of this study, in which tested aerosols generated from JUUL were not cytotoxic to living cells," said Dr. Manoj Misra, study author and head of Toxicology at JUUL Labs. "These findings add to the growing body of evidence regarding use of JUUL as an alternative to combustible cigarettes, and we are committed to future rigorous, independent and peer-reviewed clinical trials and behavioral studies."

Its actually quite cheap to fly to USA! :) Can get it for under 300 euro return!

I'm flying to the US this week so I might pick some up. However I would be wary of liking it too much if I can't get adequate pods back here. I wonder if you can get them shipped from the US.

Hey just wondering how you can compare juuls nicotine mg to regular vape mg/ml.. I vape 3mg/ml high vg, so is juuls 20mg much stronger?

Has anyone managed to get the US pods to Ireland?

I was in New York for a few weeks and brought back some 5% pods for my Juul. They make a huge difference in keeping me off the cigarettes.

When they ran out i ordered some off of the UK Juul site through parcel motel. The 1.7% isn't as satisfying and I find I'm going through them faster.

Is there anyway to get them to Ireland at a reasonable price? I've used An Post's US delivery service before but they have to open the package and charge an import duty. I'm not sure if its legal to import them plus the cost would be crazy.

    Is there any cheaper alternative?

  • Registered Users Posts: 336 ✭✭Captcha

With the savings made on ciggs you could get two trips to new york each year, pick up enough Juuls for the period and have a flipping great time for a weekend :D

I'm actually in Dublin California at the moment :) I'm here for work. Picked up a juul too. It's a nice little device.

edit to add: I just started a thread about nic salts. the juul uses them as far as I'm aware. It's possible to vape similar juice in a different device so I kicked off a thread to talk about those juices in general.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 gledge

On a similar note, there is a way to refill juul pods with nic salt, the coils should be ok for another 3-4 refills according to some websites, will let you know how I get on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,906 ✭✭✭EGriff

There's a lot of refillable pod system out there now, prob a better option than trying to rip open sealed ones.

I got my device over in the states, but I also buy pods from Californian Vape store online and get them shipped to Ireland, shipping usually takes less than a week as it's via DHL, although shipping is approx 30usd which is a pain but for the 5% strength it's worth it.

Oh, the buzz around Juuls is fully reasonable. Cool item. I bought my first one from Migvapor. I would use it til now, but gave to my friend and bought a new one. So, for me, Juul is awesome!)

It's great for its size and nicotine hit, in the eu the regulation limits nicotine in vapor to 20mg, in the US the Juul pods are 57mg, so roughly three times the strength.

Problem is getting the 57mg pods here. You can get 20mg pods shipped from the Uk through parcel motel which are great but if you're looking for the buzz it won't be the same.

Handier than carrying around a box of smokes and a lighter and there's no smell either. If you're not a smoker I'd recommend getting another device as there's a lot nicer tasting flavours out there that will do the job.

Does anyone have a link for a shop in the US that will post 5% pods over here?

It is excellent with 5% strength, I accidentally stopped smoking after 15 years of 20 a day by buying juul in USA.

I recently moved to Firefly 2 for dry herb so 100% combustion free now, not to mention the firefly uses about 10% of dry herb for an even better effect than combustion!

    https://www.irishtimes.com/business/retail-and-services/us-e-cigarette-maker-juul-labs-launches-in-irish-market-1.3884157
US e-cigarette maker Juul Labs is targeting the Republic’s 830,000 smokers following its launch here on Tuesday.

Juul, 35 per cent owned by Marlboro parent Altria, is the leading US manufacturer of vapes, less harmful cigarette replacements whose users inhale vapour containing nicotine rather than smoke.

The company hopes to convert the Republic’s estimated 830,000 adult smokers from tobacco to its products, according to Grant Winterton, its Europe, Middle East and Africa president.

Circle K service stations and specialist Hale vaping shops will initially sell Juul’s products.

Its a shame the EU scam TPD laws prohibit the best way to stop primitive smoking. 1.7% is just not enough for a lot of smokers to completely give up combustable cigs.

    Shame on the EU.

3% and 5% should be allowed in EU, same as USA, a modern nation.

With the Juul now at every circle k I imagine that it will become rapidly more popular in Ireland. I like the idea and I've seen many good reviews. What stops me is the disposable aspect of the pods. Yes, you can get refillable ones, I've seen them on amazon- but in general, what do you guys do with the pods? The Juul website says it's hazardous waste and should be disposed as such. Do you? Where do you bring it? There's hardly a Juul pods container at the Ballymount Recycling Centre. Do you put it where the light bulbs are supposed to go or where???
Apparently, Juul pod pollution everywhere is a huge issue in the US, as the Juul seems super popular with the kids there.
    Any thoughts?

My thoughts are, as I said in the other thread, the waste from the Juul and all other replaceable pod systems is bordering on criminal in this day and age .

Plus Juul is owned by Big Tobacco, something I have no intention of giving any more money to .

Very true, there must be mountains of them in landfills. They only hold 0.7ml of liquid so 14 of them equals a 10ml bottle.

Does anyone know which Circle K's in Cork sell the actual starter pack?

I visited my two local ones in Bandon and all they had was the liquids/tops

Altria invested in them recently as they need the lobby power of big tobacco. The EU is not helping smokers give up with the TPD laws, I would still be smoking tobacco only for I accidentally gave it up after discovering 5% JuuL while in USA.

No, Altria invested in them to make money and people accepted the money because they want more money. There's no noble aspect or angle to any of it.
The TPD stuff can be argued (I know people who went from 30-40 smokes a day onto 18mg no problem and quickly down to 12) but there's no goodness coming from Altria.

The sales *pitch* that I was given on entering a Circle K about 4 weeks back to counter my arguement that the whole pod is disposable...

"Ah yes, but the liquid that is in them is regulated!!
You are refilling a MTL device with 10ml bottles of liquid, and you have no idea what you're putting in the pod"

I was genuinely so flabbergasted and almost furious at the sales pitch that I just laughed and walked away or it was about to become very heated!! I looked at the girl and just said "Seriously??? You are going to tell me that the Juul is amazing because the contents are regulated. What about TPD?"

    Her response.....What's TPD mean?? :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Had similar here but quit already. The lowest mg the entire city sells is 30mg so I'm back to my 3mg regular vape.
