It almost looks like a kookaburra...

Yep, Blue Winged Kookaburras, usually found in New Guinea and Northern Australia. Not mine unfortunately, I just hand rear them for a local breeder.

The kingfisher is so 'sensitive' to sound or movement.

Once again, as I slowly raised the camera (60 or 70 feet away)- he took off

Anyway, always nice to see one.

Was out in Fota Wildlife Park yesterday and noticed some swallows amongst the giraffe and zebra... spent a while trying to photograph them from the new "savannah" viewing platform they've built there and when I processed them I noticed that there were a lot of "fails" where the fly seems to get away!

As the legs appear dark,I'm guessing this is a chiffchaff and not a willow warbler.

Yep, just a young robin! They only get their orange breast after a few months so they can look a bit patchy for a while.

Great thanks, looked like a weird hybrid or something. Hopefully it's the young of the Robin that's been hangin around the last few years.

I posted a photograph of the common sandpiper on July 27 while my shot was at least 55 meters away and yours has more detail I would say its the same.
However I'm not the expert. Great shot by the way.

    OpenYourEyes

My mistake. I associated the little Grebe with a group of moorhens that were within a couple yards of the chics. I did look it up but all I can say is

"I should have gone to Specsavers" :D
    Once again thanks.
