Found this breathalyser and it has 0.5 as the limit but anything I look up here says 50mg. Is the 0.5=50mg or how do you work it out? Because to me, and remembering college, 50 milli-anything would be 0.05 not 0.5.

Youll surely have sobered up by the time it arrives!?

    Blood Alcohol Content
Blood alcohol content is the amount of alcohol present in a volume of blood equal to 100 milliliters (ml) or its equivalent of 1 deciliter (dl). For example:

    80 mg is 0.08 grams.
0.08 grams of alcohol in 100 ml is 0.08 percent
This can also be expressed as 80 mg/dl or a BAC of 0.08

    Looks good :)

It's a reusable one. Does anyone know how the 0.5 and 0.8 numbers equate to what they measure ours in? Is there a conversion chart anywhere?

What's the 0.5 limit about on the one I linked to then, it says Ireland and Scotland. Going by the above then the 0.5 would be ten times the limit.

Edit - from the photos of the item it says the scale is %BAC.

I'd put this in the parking thread, but no pic and it says no chat.

Was in Holyhead on Weds and walking past some cars parallel parked on a hill. Woman shouted out 'look' or something, we turned and she said 'that car just rolled back into that van' , must have left hand break off or loose. wheels were pointing out to road a tiny bit.

So a bit later we walked passed it again (very small place!) and the van had gone, car was resting against a BMW's bumper and had edged nearer to being in the middle of the small road.

So, we went back again 30 min later to see if the BMW had moved and what might happen next. As we approached the BMW came our way, Bumper seemed OK and the offending car also gone! Reckon it would have blocked the road had it not gone before the BMW!

Had a rough night last night :pac: the 540 blew the upper rad hose and I managed to scratch the driverside rear door a decent bit and scraped a bit of the rear quarter while taking it off the road into a friend's very tight drive, pissed at myself for that as I just took it too tight due to roadworks on the other side of the gate. Currently the car is in West Cork but I should be able to borrow a hose from my friends 535i while I wait to get one from BMW in the meantime, never a boring day :pac:

A jaysis! Sorry to hear man! Hopefully the body itn't too bad! The rad hose will be handy (as you well know!), mostly a pain in the hoop bleeding the coolant after topping it off.

Yeah the hose is a simple swap, have the old one off ready for the new one to go on but as you know, the bleeding is the hard part. The door I reckon I can save a lot myself but not sure on the quarter, I only took a quick glance and haven't seen it since late Saturday night :pac:

I'll probably get the two panels sprayed cheap for the time being as I plan on getting the majority if not whole car done around Spring, maybe Summer next year anyway!

If it's not so bad right now I would just polish it out and do what you can with little/no cost input. Not point spending money on a cheap spray when you'll do the whole car in 6 months!

    Delivery this morning...

    IMG_20180903_085639_1.jpg

Not sure they would have fitted the e30! Hopefully get them on soon enough. I have the slightest vibration on braking from high speed and hope new discs will sort it.

What brand did you go for in the end? Pagid? Textar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,397 ✭✭✭vintagevrs

They are TRW. The textars went out of stock the day I went to buy them. Got these from a German site.

The quarter I'm sure is fairly bad and I'm more worried about that rusting as I already wanted to sort some on it!

Are TRW fairly decent? It's gas they are 40 quid a corner for the Lexus on Mister Auto but 200 for Blueprint!

A cheap job could make the rust worse as they will most likely just sand it back to bare metal and slap a load of filler on which will crack in a few months and let water in which will trap moisture and accelerate the rust. I've seen this numerous times with cheap poor repairs.

When you come to respraying it then in 6 months the bodyshop will have to fix an even bigger mess which will end up costing you more again.

The best bet is to touch up any exposed metal and wait until you are getting it resprayed to repair the damage.

Ah well when I say cheap I don't mean a €100 job, it'll be going to either of two bodyshops I personally know well that they'd sort it right and both generally cut and weld rusty areas unless they're very superficial.

Was doing a bit of work in the UK the end of last week and was given a brand new Caddy to use by our partner company. For something with such a name, they are so disappointing.

Caddys were at their best when they were a Polo with the van tacked on. The Caddy van is better than a Berlingo etc but still a woeful yoke compared to anything car derived.
