The group make short work of the shadow beings, but notice three more gateways beginning to open.

Karinth and Ser Boros have dealt with a second one that opened.

    "Best to move" Karinth shouts.

They then hear a dull thud and see the old librarian leg it up the crystalline stairs.

    Sarric follows the librarian.

    Iuric follows the librarian too.

Retula follows him, her book and pen following behind, frantically inscribing 'Brian, the shadows embrace'

Ooc : when she knocks back a target with Eldritch Bakst this shadow sticks to their back, grabbing any hostile within 5 feet of them as they pass, binding them together.

The librarian runs up the stairs and is promptly swallowed whole by one of the hydra's seven heads.

The hydra then rears back on seeing the group.

    "Who are all of you?"

Two heads each turn to the alcoves at its sides, one turns to look up the stairs behind it.

Sarric with the knowledge their is evil up ahead, prepares himself for a quick stunning strike on the evil before it even gets a chance to react.

"Iuric Mercutius, a hero of some renown, and you are?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

"Retula, death god, dwarf exploder and apparently the font from which this buildings taps flow. Can you get us out of here before the floor collapses please?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

"Where is the hall of treasures Kazzar of the many heads?" Karinth shouts.

Sarric leaps forward and strikes the Hydra in the face. Enraged it dives at the group.

    OOC: Init

OOC: I'm not at the Hydra fight yet, right?

Mags, once again having opened a way to allow hoards of bad things into the world, wonders at the coincidence and marvels at the convolutions of fate. As he plays he changes his focus from trying to seal the fissure to bolstering his own magic as he casts Thunderwave directly at the opening.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Downstairs Mags prevents the current waves of Shadow beings from advancing toward the group with a Thunderwave, knocking them back into the portal for a period. He hears the group fighting with some enormous beast above.

Upstairs Karinth watches Sarric deliver his blow to the Hydra's head.

"Too right Sarric, this beast will never answer my query, we must slay for it guards treasures beyond"

He, Ser Boros and the rest of the group charge the Hydra.

Iuric leaps into action onto the beasts back, digging Durandal into the nape of the first neck he reaches. With as much effort as he can muster he drives the sword in until he reaches the vertebrae and then, planting his feet in the slimy lumps on the beasts back, he wrenches the head clean off.

As he does this Karinth summons dark black energy into his hand, grabbing another neck and rotting it at the base. The head atop goes into convulsions as nerve damage and poison overtake it. It now weakened, he too is able to remove the head.

Retula tosses Eldritch blasts at several heads scorching them and exposing flesh and bone, making it easier for Karinth and Iuric to continue their decapitations.

Sarric takes a more honest approach of rapidly beating the heads, caving in the skull through the eye sockets.

The first heads begin to regrow, Vrakrash noticing this delivers a blast of magical dragon flame shutting off the healing process.

The hydra lashes out several times during the fight. Almost everybody feels the sting of its teeth as it closes its jaws on them, scrapping their flesh and breaking the odd rib before they get themselves free. It makes a fatal mistake when it does so on Iuric, he stretches out his hand and using the corrupted shards of his broken oath that taint the magical weave about him, he pulls open a gateway to the realm of Agares the Devil. Hot lava streams out onto the newest batch of regrowing heads.

He steadies himself, takes a quick glance at Retula before running at the hydra. Retula releases an Eldritch blast straight at one of the remaining heads, already bloodied from Sarric's blows. Iuric leaps into the air, Retula's spell blasts the heads to bits and his jump takes him through the smoke cloud. He bursts through on the other side, coming down on the remaining head.

As he falls toward the beast he says....

The body collapses to the ground, shaking the room. A few vases are heard shattering. Karinth begins looking at the body.

Beneath, Mags hears the impact, it causes a new crack to form in the roof. He sees the door of the K room implode into the room, some sort of black hole forming with the K room, then starts to pull on the walls and floors around him.

Retula grabs a severed head for the pile of bones and viscera she's building in her bag.

Karinth heads off in the direction of one of the alcoves. Ser Boros walks up behind Retula.

"What a beast, I don't think we have this on my plane, or at least I never heard of them"

Sora begins to drink some water from the fountain.

Minor illusion on decapitated head : sound - "well we never heard of no Ser Boros neither!"

Retula sniffs the water to see if she notices anything (detect magic nose activate!)

Ser Boros leaps back in shock, but laughs when he knows he's been had.

The water seems perfectly normal, no magical aura about it.

Sarric after refilling his water skin and quenching his thirst follows after karinth.

Retula cups her hands and drinks.
"Howdy miss. You with us? Groups gotten that big I sometimes lose track."

If the hydra has a torso and there's no sound and f impending doom from below she begins cutting it open with a scimitar she's been carrying around for a very long time without using

"Yes, you picked me up in the Valley, not much of a fighter I'm afraid. I'd never even been to the OuterWorld before I met all of you"

Retula cuts open the hydras stomach and inside finds a large red key with a ruby on the handle.

Looking around she notices Stroupy is nowhere to be seen.

Sarric and Karinth enter the alcove, stopping when they see an apparently endless pit beneath them. Protruding from the pit are large stone columns. Beyond the columns on the other side lies a ledge leading to a corridor.

Iuric has a look at one of the other alcoves.

"They summoned you too? Were you in the middle of anything important? I know, they're so inconsiderate... so what do you do on your home turf?

Wait, did you see where the horrendously powerful but egregiously cowardly dude went? You know, the one who was naked when you met him? No, not the dwarf, the other one?

Hank, take a quick look down stairs. If he could teleport, he'd have done it long since. He's invisible or some ****. Or something's hunting us in order of ab rippedness. That would explain Hetyaro... Could be any of the guys next, reckon I'm safe until it comes down to me and your doughy ass, Sora."

She takes the key, then looks around for the others.

Within is a man chained in the air with what smells like sea salt bonds and an iron bar running from the ceiling, through his chest and into the ground.

He hugs the floor and looks down the stairs, but finds the lower floor is gone.

Iuric checks the man to see if he's alive and if he is he'll use a divine sense.

The man is alive. Divine sense reveals nothing, so not one of the usual three.

Sarric tries to figure out if he could make it over to the corridor easy enough using the columns as stepping stones.

Given his high elven grace Sarric thinks he could clear the first few easily enough. The last two gaps would be too much for most, but thanks to his training, his Step of the Wind technique should carry him even past them.
