Guacamelee 2 is ****ing amazing, can't recommend it enough.

Thought this was pretty cool. The creation and evolution of the Mjolnir mix from Halo 2.

Great clip. Just hearing that iconic track makes me think about how utterly amazing Halo used to be from the original through Reach while under Bungie's watch (still OK, just gone a different direction...)

Still think Reach is the best Halo game there's been. Wish that 343 had taken more of a risk with 4 and 5 rather than returning to the exact same conflict and set of characters so quickly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

I wish they would release a remastered Reach. I don't care how much, I would buy it in an instant. Thought 5 was a decent improvement on the very average 4, but both pale in comparison to the Bungie games.

Reach was the only Halo I thoroughly enjoyed despite the awful story.

Looks gorgeous so even a modest remake would look excellent.

I don't get the love for reach myself, granted I didn't play it till last year, coming off the back of playing through every campaign in the master chief collection. It felt very different, and there's not a lot of it that sticks out in my mind apart from probably the final sequence after the ship takes off without you.

Oddly enough, I reckon ODST might be my favourite, followed by halo 3

The Division 2 has lost the run of itself with all the different versions of the game available for pre-order. There's at least three for Ireland and I've seen a fourth on Amazon.
If they go down the road of selling storage space I'll seriously lose my s**t.

The trick to buying the division 2 will be not to pre order it, but pay less money for it a few months later when the game is actually finished and ready to be played :)

This. I picked it up this year for pennies and had a blast with it. They fixed a lot in it.
As much as I loved it, I wont be touching on launch. A good half year in on sale ill pick it up.

I got it on launch and thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't a bad launch from memory but it certainly needed fixing which really only came about in patch 1.6 when I think was when you picked it up ShadowHearth.
I'll be pre-ordering. I'll never survive the hype train once it gets going.

I don't think you'll see the same thing happen this time with the Division 2.
In the first game the devs didn't have a clear vision of what the game was supposed to be so the game got radical updates that completely changed how the game worked.

They have the game perfected now, maybe perfected isn't the right word. They know what they are doing now is probably the better thing to say. They'll hopefully just take what is working for them now into the second game and improve on it.

They really pulled a massive turnaround on D1, enough that I went back to it and put in another 50 odd hours, something I very rarely do.

Did they actually add new content though? The repetitiveness of it killed it for me.

I hadnt checked out any of the DLC, so what they added was
The Underground - randomly generated dungeons
Survival - no gear, new experience of player vs player vs the environment and NPCs
Last Stand - a new PVP mode
and then they added a horde mode with a new area on the piers.

They made the classes a lot more interesting though, with different gearsets that really let you tweak a specialist build.

Horde mode was the first DLC was it not? I think I stopped playing after that came out. It just felt like they didn't know how to make it interesting, so they just made it spongier.

horde was the last one, its like a cross between gears of war horde and black ops zombies, in that you're saving credits to open new areas etc.

Playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood and there is a mission on it that's starting to really pîss me off. The checkpoint system is very unforgiving on this one.

They also expanded the dark zone. The improvements are almost too much to list.

Which mission? Played it recently for the first time and found it annoying a number of times.

Saw this on Twitter awhile back and it looked neat alright!

Not sure about the GOTY though. @PunchesBears, a dev over at Unity, has been doing some awesome work over the last couple of years on procedural animation and has finally decided to make a game with it, Wreckoons. I can't think of any one gif that does the project justice but between bastard selfie-taking raccoons, corgis and some tasty hip-hop, I think it could take the geese. :pac:

Some impressive tech there, but for sheer visual character Goose Game has converted me. I just love how much humour, absurdity and even pathos is evident in the actions of human and goose alike.

As an aside, just played through Donut County and there’s another delightful game overflowing with carefully-honed artistry. A silly, short game that is elevated through every detail being gone through with a fine-tooth comb. And I don’t just say that because of my natural bias towards one-sitting games :)

Oh sorry I meant to come back to this thread earlier. It was the mission "Flying Machine 2.0" where you had to sneak into a fort and rob the aforementioned machine. I was trying to get 100% Synch on it which involved not getting shot while bombing certain targets. Restarting the memory dragged me all the way back to the beginning and I wanted to get it done before going to work lol

I got it in the end, annoying as it was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,544 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Looked it up and didn't remember it. But I see it was a side mission.
One thing that annoyed me a lot is how it's down as loads of freedom and parkour to get places quickly, yet any time you attempt to do that, you get spotted and have to go away off route to lose them.
Playing Prototype afterwards showed how it should be done and be fun

You can always take your fustrations out on enemies by kneeing them in the nuts.

    I love Devolver.

They do tend to look far and wide for games to publish. Really cool to see all the different flags of the developers they have published on the wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devolver_Digital
