Must get you to herd the cattle. Great man at counting.

    That's a poor turn out.

I thought the Phoenix Park could be booked by anybody, but Croke Park only via certain channels, so they could ensure it was full?

I live beside Croker and a neighbour who is a good judge reckons not much more than 50,000 judging by the crowds on the street. Poor organisation on the part of whoever is responsible for it.

Those who wanted to go are either children who have no choice, elderly people who have had the church beat into them since they were at school or foreigners who will be gone home again in a few days.

    Miserably sad.

Ok folks I’ve not gone to mass in years. Probably since around 2000. Very much a lapsed believer. But honestly having seen the pope earlier I felt some power in his presence. He has something. I can’t define it. I think the atmosphere which was fantastic in the city centre earlier played a big part too. In short. I’m a believer. He’s got it whatever it is.

Don't like his latest stuff, his first 2 albums were better

Good job the mobile zipped past you, any slower you'd be a priest or a nun. :)

Who is saying it was 100% their fault?

Could you stop with the sickening 'the church is the victim' talk?
The church has been negligent and criminal in their actions about this. It's leader is in the country.
That is the subject of the thread

To be fair to the church, they have already acknowledged their role in the abuse of children and the protection of abusers. They still haven't admitted their full role, but they are on their way.

There are many other organisations in Irish society - one of your favourites, Sinn Fein, included - who have yet to even acknowledge the role they played in the abuse of children and the protection of child abusers. They still celebrate people who moved child abusers from one jurisdiction to another.

He didnt stop anybody, there where free tickets still available. There was a date cut off and they started charging for them.

So the people who didn't get a free ticket, just didn't bother.
Thought someone said earlier that tickets had sold out? In any case it was his intention to stop people from going which is still pathetic.

Exactly. And now he's a fan of the BBC. The irony is lost on him.

    Seriously??
Did you see what the mods were dealing with about two hours ago. Unrepeatable stuff as far as I am concerned.
And you're calling me out over a a bit of slagging of someones posts, which frankly, sound like they are posted by some kind of iona institute propaganda bot. Yeah I was slagging them on it/calling them out on it in a relatively light hearted way.

No I didn't see whatever the mods dealt with earlier. But what you seem to be saying, is that because the mods had some god damn awful thing to deal with earlier, I can't criticise a post now when I choose to.
One Pope bashing thread is enough i would have thought in one forum but it's now 2- and bashing posters along with it.
I don't agree with that. Hey disagree if you wish.

Well if you watch the GAA and go to a few matches a year you do get a good idea of what the numbers are roughly like.. I couldn’t care less to be honest but people swearing it’s a full house need glasses.

When Gerry Adams is paraded through Dublin with his minions all throwing themselves at him, acting like he's some sort of guardian of tolerance, morals and decency then you should definitely start a thread about it.

You're not happy. If you read your posts and look at your actions you're anything but.

    Big plank on your shoulder.

The Church have been dragged kicking and screaming to every court, every tribunal and every hearing on this planet since these stories surfaced in the 1990's.

They have denied everything, attempted to blacken the names of those who exposed thier standards and continue to hide information over a quarter of a century later and through three Popes.

Their downfall in Ireland and other countries is their own doing.

And how exactly would your actions go towards the getting rid of the "poison?"

There were alot of bad things done in the past, terrible things but the Church so alot of good things too. If someonehas faith that's their choice and if they don't that's also their choice. I don't have much faith but respect anyone who does and doesn't bother me once they don't force it down my throat.

I wouldn't get too annoyed at him, he is just trying to troll the thread. He knows very well that Adams addressed his faults in the issue with his brother. And there are no child abuse cases ongoing in a court nor none pending against any member of SF that I am aware of.
