At least the BBC is reporting that 'not quite the numbers expected' turning up.

I managed to get my hands on 35 tickets. They have been put in the blue recycling bin

Yeah and some protesters applied for tickets so there would be empty spaces, so they can say 'oh look, they couldn't fill Croke Park'.

Absent protestors - all for it

Aren’t you great! Feel proud of yourself do you?

What exactly do you think that’ll achieve?

A very childish way to behave imo. All it does is create tension and polarize people.

    :D

The Roman Catholic Church are well able to do that by themselves

Francie Brady scans all media for what he wants to hear.

Move over.. there's only one Francie in town and it ain't you :)

Personally, and indeed practically, I think it would have been better to organise both tickets and transport via your parish in the first instance. I think everyone who wanted to go to the Mass in Phoenix Park tomorrow, did get a ticket, as long as they booked back when tickets were available.

People "prevented" from going now, are probably tourists or those who didn't think they would make it at the time, but now can.
But there are still places on social media to get tickets for free if needed.

And that makes you feel good? Your heart is heavy Francie boy- heavy. I feel your pain. Let it release Francie, let it go. We're all here for you. Switch on RTE 2, there's wonderful singing taking place. Lift up your little broken heart Francie boy.

    There, there.

If you did do that you should be ashamed of yourself. If you didn't want to go or are not religious or whatever that's fine - don't go and don't watch it on TV but to do that and stop people who legimately wanted to be there is pathetic.

I'm not even religious! I do recognise that the crowd trying to sabotage the Pope's visit are narrow minded bigots though.

Why are you taking the pizz out off someone who is celebrating their day out.

This is after all, a thread devoted to "who's going to see the Pope". While it's turned into just another Pope/Catholic bashing thread which mods in AH have done fck all about, can you not leave posters who are celebrating their experience today alone or is it that you just thrive on thanks whoring and bullying tactics?

    Seriously??
Did you see what the mods were dealing with about two hours ago. Unrepeatable stuff as far as I am concerned.
And you're calling me out over a a bit of slagging of someones posts, which frankly, sound like they are posted by some kind of iona institute propaganda bot. Yeah I was slagging them on it/calling them out on it in a relatively light hearted way.

Ok folks I’ve not gone to mass in years. Probably since around 2000. Very much a lapsed believer. But honestly having seen the pope earlier I felt some power in his presence. He has something. I can’t define it. I think the atmosphere which was fantastic in the city centre earlier played a big part too. In short. I’m a believer. He’s got it whatever it is.

He didnt stop anybody, there where free tickets still available. There was a date cut off and they started charging for them.

So the people who didn't get a free ticket, just didn't bother.

Or people outraged by institutional abuse, paedophilia and subsequent cover up by an organisation that still refuses to make amends, that still acts like it has a shred of moral authority and that still behaves like it should have any influence in modern Ireland.

But I'll let you decide for yourself.

I did do that. And im proud of it too. Anything I can do to rid my country of this poison I will do.
Those who wanted to go are either children who have no choice, elderly people who have had the church beat into them since they were at school or foreigners who will be gone home again in a few days.
