I'm really am staggered there are so few protesting.

That's because most people will be going tomorrow.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I'm really am staggered there are so few protesting. It's bizarre and baffling to be honest. RTE has given large coverage to all the protesters on the news and there is only a handful at each of the locations they covered.

Perhaps its to do with the organised protest gathering being tomorrow? I expect a considerable turn out at that.

Is it ignorant to protest the visit of the leader of an organisation that is (and I'm being generous here) dragging its heals on meeting agreed commitments in terms of financial payments to victims? An organisation that not only historically facilitated widespread rape of children throughout this country, but actively sought to spread it by transferring guilty priests to different parishes? An organisation that is still not doing anything near all in its power to stop the very same abuses from continuing in certain parishes right now?

There's ignorance on display, that's for sure, but it's not amongst those protesting.

Exercising a privilege that many countries do not enjoy.

A abused privilege, that you will find most countries do have. We arent as special as people seem to think

I look forward to our next retarded protest

Yawn, people dont think that at all about Ireland.
You realise we arent the only religion in the world and definitely not the only ones who have been affected by it.
Maybe find something else to worry about like the fact it was Irish men abusing these children. But hey no lets rant and rave about a Argentine
Like i said already, you all come across as idiots

Yes Irish abusers given permission by Rome.

Highlight selling peoples children, the use of minors and women as slave labour, untold amounts of sexual, physical and mental abuse over decades, hypocrisy, abuse of power and privilege......things like that.

Things that clearly some still agree with.

I hadn't really planned on going in to the protest tomorrow, but after all the mealy-mouthed equivocation in the last week or so, from multiple very senior clergymen - all those long-flowery phrases expressing nothing more than the usual hollow claptrap I'm definitely going, as are most of my family.

If they think they can wring their hands and ask for forgiveness while STILL continuing to do everything they can to prevent the truth from coming out, they are in for a rude awakening.
What mealy-mouthed equivocation? I am just not seeing that. At this stage I dont see how many more apologies are needed. They have been for years. All the signs are that the efforts to stamp out abuse 15 odd years ago worked.

Leave us idiots over here to talk about trying to bring to justice an organization which for decades covered up rampant child abuse and which may be continuing to do so.

Maybe ppl are tired of it all at this stage. Or they have a sense of closure on those past crimes and have turned the page.

Sounds like you want it all swept under the carpet and forgotten about. That is not going to happen.

How can closure come about when this church is still refusing to release its records? Still shielding abusers and those who covered up abuse? Still refusing to pay the compensation it agreed to pay?

    Release their files.

Hand the perpetrators over to the police.

    Co-operate fully.

Apologies are meaningless if they are still covering up to protect themselves and their precious precious money.

Then why are more revelations coming out, year after year? The church only says mea culpa when its caught - it does not out the known abusers in its ranks or make available information on them of its own voilition.

Do you think people are protesting because he's from Argentina?
Do you understand at any level how the church works?

Francis is the CEO, he was handpicked and elected by the board - he is the leader of the organisation and as such, he is responsible.

Justice :pac: what justice should be put on old Francis exactly, what crimes did he commit in rural Ireland

Listen, you go off and have a read of the wikipedia page about the structure of the catholic church and come back to the discussion when you have even the barest bones of an understanding of how it works, ok?

Is that all you can manage ? If you know abuse is happening - the Pope did & you just move the abuser somewhere else to carry on abusing - which the Pope did & then refuse to hand over the documentation you are giving the abusers permission.

Religious groups still owe €1.3 billion for institutional child abuse.

Why do the current authorities in the state refuse to arrest a single Irish bishop for questioning or issue a single warrant to search their files ? This is what gets to me. Of course criminals are going to get away with, and continue to get away with perverting the course of justice in the future if the current Irish authorities won't administer the criminal justice system and provide some justice for the victims. There seems to be a media blackout on this glaring omission as well.

I think people are protesting because they are stupid, im highlighting that Francis has zero connection to those past crimes

Do you understand how the church works
    Or history
Like i said, Barack should be ashamed how those Negro boys were treated
The queen has to look how she handled the famine
    etc etc etc

Why won't Francis release the records relating to abuse? All bishops/cardinals were instructed to forward files on all allegations of abuse to the Vatican.

Why won't Francis turn over to national police forces all the alleged abusers and abuse cover uppers hiding out in the Vatican? The Vatican has no extradition treaties. It's a safe haven for abusers hiding from justice.

Why won't Francis compel the religious orders in Ireland to pay the compensation they agreed?

Those are three things he could do right now, but won't.

    He has good PR though...

An Argentine that was a Cardinal before. Are you really suggesting that a Cardinal wouldn't know about a huge issue affecting the Church ?
