Is it ignorant to protest the visit of the leader of an organisation that is (and I'm being generous here) dragging its heals on meeting agreed commitments in terms of financial payments to victims? An organisation that not only historically facilitated widespread rape of children throughout this country, but actively sought to spread it by transferring guilty priests to different parishes? An organisation that is still not doing anything near all in its power to stop the very same abuses from continuing in certain parishes right now?

There's ignorance on display, that's for sure, but it's not amongst those protesting.

Highlight selling peoples children, the use of minors and women as slave labour, untold amounts of sexual, physical and mental abuse over decades, hypocrisy, abuse of power and privilege......things like that.

Then why are more revelations coming out, year after year? The church only says mea culpa when its caught - it does not out the known abusers in its ranks or make available information on them of its own voilition.

Francis is the CEO, he was handpicked and elected by the board - he is the leader of the organisation and as such, he is responsible.

Why do the current authorities in the state refuse to arrest a single Irish bishop for questioning or issue a single warrant to search their files ? This is what gets to me. Of course criminals are going to get away with, and continue to get away with perverting the course of justice in the future if the current Irish authorities won't administer the criminal justice system and provide some justice for the victims. There seems to be a media blackout on this glaring omission as well.

Why won't Francis release the records relating to abuse? All bishops/cardinals were instructed to forward files on all allegations of abuse to the Vatican.

Why won't Francis turn over to national police forces all the alleged abusers and abuse cover uppers hiding out in the Vatican? The Vatican has no extradition treaties. It's a safe haven for abusers hiding from justice.

Why won't Francis compel the religious orders in Ireland to pay the compensation they agreed?

Those are three things he could do right now, but won't.

He has good PR though...
