Like your parents /grandparents and pretty much everyone in the country who is more than 50 years old.

The church in this country were not armed they would have been very easy to deal with if the public didn't decide they didn't want to deal with it.It was unbelievably inhuman to allow people to be taken into these mother and child homes, reformatory schools etc for no good reason and yet that is what the Irish people allowed to happen.

I'm over 50 and I'm am in no way to blame or am I complicit in raping children.

The rapist priests are responsible for the rapes and the catholic church management are responsible for enabling these priests to continue committing their vile crimes and evade justice by moving rapist clerics from place to place and swearing their victims to silence on threat of eternal damnation.

What makes you think we don’t think about it? I have struggled with my faith for years and even tried to make myself stopped believing as a way support the victims of the church but it just didn’t sit right with me.

Make yourself stop believing in what? God, Jesus, and the story of the Bible or the Roman Catholic Church? What would it take for your faith in the RCC to be affected? Certainly not actively helping the mass rape of children around the world (among many, many other horrors).

If I were to choose not to go to the park now it would only give more ammunition to those who want to believe I think it’s ok to hurt children. They’d jump on it as an admition of guilt by me.

Or an example of somebody staying strong in their faith, and protesting against the hierarchy that has actively helped priest and bishops engage in raping children. The RCC care about numbers. How many people turn out tomorrow will be used by those in the higher up parts of the RCC as an example of how many people support them.

My faith in the church has been affected, that’s why I struggle with it so much.

I’m going to the park regardless but if I did decide not to then as far as I’m concerned it would only be used as a further stick to beat me with ‘oh look she’s not going. She must agree she’s a child abuse enabler and be feeling guilty about it’.

This intrigues me what has the church got to do with your faith? The RCC did not exist during the life of Jesus, God did not write a tablet somewhere constituting it. Your faith is in God not a human construct whose sole purpose is control just as any organised religion. You can practice your beliefs in a shed exactly as you would in a Cathedral. Do you believe their is one true religion and ever other is wrong?

You're going along to the Mass because you are going along to the Mass. You don't need to explain or justify yourself to anyone.

I just started a thread in the tv forum for anyone that would like to discuss the tv coverage of the popes visit.

    No debates on religion

I believe all religions worship the same god/higher power but in different ways.

And I never said I need the church to affirm my beliefs, that’s just the method by which I choose to worship.

Based on the attitudes on display here I do unfortunately. Otherwise people will go on thinking I am ok with child abuse.

Motorcade later this afternoon through Dublin city centre will take only a few seconds to pass through in any event. There's no need for people to wait for ages at the barriers.

The Pope Mobile is like something a pimp rapper would own, the V8 engine hardly good for the climate change wafflers, I suppose coming in to the winter the hotter it makes the country the better.

Miriam and crew on RTE now and guests saying how great the church is.
Listening To this lot is similar to listening to people in a cult..

    Edit
They now have the Loyola crowd on now , a lot disillusioned people in this country..

Far from empty. Come down and have a look for yourself-maybe have a quick pray while you’re at it!

The fake news will report it as 200,000 people.

Rte reporting only 200 people on Marlborough St and it’s surrounding streets. He is due there in the pro cathedral in about 10-15 minutes. Huge turnout!

It not every day you get to gawk at the man who is responsible for hiding some of the world's most prolific paedophiles.

Not a single live webcam seems to be active in the entire city to verify who is actually out watching the event, conspiracy theories welcome.

Based on the attitudes on display here I do unfortunately. Otherwise people will go on thinking I am ok with child abuse.

As said before nobody thinks you're ok with child abuse but by going to the park tomorrow then you're showing approval of an organisation and its leader that had members abuse children for decades and help cover it up, oppose gay rights, ban contraception, oppress women etc.

I don't get how anybody can back that and I don't get why you need to show your faith by going tomorrow if you say you don't need the church.

People have a nautral inquisitiveness and go to see people just to see them. Not that they believe or support them. Look at how man used to turn up for hangings as an example. More recent times it’s known as FOMO or being able to post on social media “I was there”.

The fake news will report it as 200,000 people.

If less it will be because of health and safety requirements.

RTE are showing overhead shots. I’ve seen more people at football matches.
