Postponement of court date.

Quick one if someone can help. If a person has a court date set for a certain date, but events occur which mean the person genuinely cannot appear for the date can the court be written to, to ask for a postponement to another date?

You might be better off contacting the person that is requiring you to be in Court, i.e. the Guard, An Post etc. If the other side are aware you are seeking an adjournment before the court date, you will most likely get one.
