    I thought the dogs in the street knew that uncleared funds are just that, until they're cleared, and that the bank is simply extending credit on the basis of the funds being cleared eventually.
    Never act on funds that are based on a cheque until you're absolutely sure it's genuine and totally cleared. Some cheques can bounce a month or two after seeming to clear.
