    Mickey Harte as a manager.

I presume this statement is a joke

That kick was to draw the game. I was only 14 but i was at it with my Dad, down in the opposite corner but seeing the ball just drop over was a beautiful sight. Remember Vinny Murphy coming on for the Dubs and giving the entire team and support a massive lift. After being up by loads, we got out of jail that day.

You're right, memory fails me. My heart was broken along with that Dublin team.

I worked in Arnotts at the time and was one of the few who had to work that day as most of my department dandered down to Semple. I'll still never reach the contempt levels I had that day as people tried to buy clothing and back-to-school stuff as I tried to watch the match.

McGee, Murphy, McB, R McHugh, McNaillis (when he's arsed),

Drew, McManus, Hughes (big fan of Beggan but Cluxton is too important to Dublin )

Moran- (not now, had him in a similar thread last year), Clifford, O'Sullivan (impact sub 5 minutes 2 points )

Keegan, Harrison, Parsons, AOS (O'Gara role)

    John Heslin

Cian Mackey ( if he was left in the forwards he's s great link player and passer)

Colm Cavanagh, Mattie Donnelly (squad player)

    Comer, Cooke (future development)

    That is an urban myth.

For the first kickout, there was wrestling. Kilkenny got a black card.

For the second kickout, there were three free Mayo men on one side of the pitch. Clarke kicked it out over the sideline on the other side.

    Watch it again.

Kimmage and his gutter rant has an awful lot to answer for with that one. You'd wonder did he even watch it.

    Was that the Thurles game?

Remember, if Cluxton misplaces one single kick then he has CRUMBLED.

Was at fault for goal the last day. Not having a spectacular year.

On form (notwithstanding any historic context), Graham Brody and Rory Beggan are better goalkeepers for a start.

    Brody?! Why?

Just because a fella is noticed because he starts trying to run the pitch does not make him a good keeper. 50 minutes of publicity against Dublin would also not warrant him to be a better keeper than cluxton.

He is a good keeper and will only improve but wouldn’t be in the Dublin starting 15.

As a Dub I would have a fit McBrearty all day long. Class act.

    Mickey Harte as a manager.

    Colm Cavanagh
    Conor McManus
    Peter Harte
    Patrick McBrearty
    Tiernan McCann
    Mattie Donnelly

Tiernan McCann - are you having a laugh.

Paddy Mc Brearty and McManus no problem.

You can keep Harte. The pitch is maintained by a groundsman and won't need any adjustments. We don't need cynical fouling and gamesmanship in Dublin football. We can play the game skillfully and win without any cheating.

Besides we have a manager that has won more silverware in the last 5 years than Harte has won in his 20 plus SFC career.

Well for obvious reasons I'll never forget it lol. Maurice Fitz seems 10 foot tall even to me now. Funnily enough my Dad said Vinny Murphy coming on would change things, I was trying to figure out why and how. Learnt a valuable lesson that day.

    You are 100% correct.

All the old Northsiders came on!

Sherlock fed Vinnie (he'd very fast hands, great passer in the box)

The old guys pulled it out of the fire

I think Na Fianna were county champions but couldn't get a starting place on the team for silly reasons

Everyone knew Kerry would win the replay, infairness to BS it was really a loss

Could Chrissy McKaigue of Derry make the panel? It is hard to tell as he plays in a poor county team but he is an Ulster club winner and has played for Ireland.

It certainly felt like a loss.

It's players who'd make the Dublin squad. Didn't say they'd all play at the same time.

For example I'd have one from Drew or McGee

    I'd definitely start Harrison

I'd have one from Parsons or Cavanagh, but I'd start Fenton

    Etc

In the half forwards Kilkenny would stay, it's up for grabs after that

Would I have Heslin over Howard or Scully ? Yes

Would I have Murphy over Rock, yes

Half backs would I have Keegan ahead of McCarthy?
they'd both start though as would McCaffery, but no Small or Cooper in the half backs (he'd be a corner back)

And TBH for all the midfielders that are gifted, to come off the bench

Parsons, AOS, Moran, Feton, Murphy, Cavanagh, Heslin etc

MDMA he's come out on top more often than not

Himself and Cavanagh would have some ding.

Those 2 played at my club 10 years ago in a memorial game, they played in a team with Peter Canavan, Declan Bonner, Ciaran McDonald, Mickey Linden, Jack Sheedy and Jim Gavin against the Derry 1993 team. There was live commentary from the old BBC NI commentator. The population of the area is 2408 so that was a big deal.

    Top post,very objective.

    Would you start McManus?

Definite starter for me but that's only my opinion.

A Hail Mary option off the bench instead of O'Gara might be an option. Then again, O'Gara scored 2-2 against Roscommon. Comer got 2 points against Roscommon, and the starting Galway forward line only managed 9 points from play against them.

Not comparing like for like in fairness as Roscommon's defending in the Connacht final was just slightly more focused than that dead rubber game against Dublin.

I would, the main thing going for Mannion etc is his ability to track back, tackle and still score.

TBH I'm not sure how to rate that in a forward, but take everything else away Clifford etc, that does help Mannion start over other Dublin players so why not over any other players.

There use to be arguments about Gooch being a luxury player

Yet McManus takes two men to mark him. It's possibly similar to tracking back.

He'd start, but so would a fit B Brogan and neither track back a lot

Brogan does now because lads like Mannion and O'Callahan do and they took his place.

    Loads of room for McManus

I think you have to track back and be a defender in this Dublin team. So M Murphy would be a better fit IMO,

He'd replace Rock, take frees, track back, the occasional drift option for a kick out, he is the ultimate Gavin player imo.

This season he’d be in ahead of mannion and O’Callaghan at times, if you are talking HF line he’d be ahead of scully.

I'd love to see him take charge of the Intl Rules team down under enxt year and run the rule over Murphy and McManus.

    Jimmy Hyland................

I nearly put him down, he'd be in the development side with Cooke , fantastic player, but you have have to see him with seniors

He needs 5 games at half back first !
