    Once again a thread where there's more hangups about Irish people allegedly having hangups about sex than there are Irish people who actually have hangups about sex.

    Trace this stereotype back and you'll find it rooted in a standard anti-Catholic WASP perception of the Irish as being sexually repressed. Well done to every Irish person who internalises all their prejudices.

    Lastly, one can be sexually liberal without going on about sex in conversations all the time like a 13-year-old boy. I'd rather not know the inner details of somebody else's sex life, thank you very much. If this preference is a sign of a "typically repressed Irish Catholic" it still sounds better than "I talk about sex all the time and this shows I'm so cutting edge".

    I've been to Prague twice - in 1999 and 2010 and the women there are stunning. Really head turning - nearly (but not quite!!) hot enough to turn me straight...

    Some of the younger men are very good looking too - the older guys, not so much - beer bellies galore!

    It's the combination of a mix of Slavic with strong Germanic influences - good genes and looking after themselves well. Yes, many countries in Central and Northern Europe - Germany and the Nordic countries in particular - are more liberal and relaxed with respect to sex and nudity etc. Ireland is catching up - but there was an awful lot of catching up to do.

    One interesting thing is that the Czech republic records the highest percentage of people in the world who consider themselves to have no religious beliefs in their census. Whereas Ireland still records a majority "nominal" Catholic affiliation. I don't think that's a coincidence. There is an inverse relationship between religion and sexual freedom.

    Nearly all porn stars have stage names and for good reason - many if not most don't want their families knowing but that is changing. There is a degree of exploitation in porn - especially hetero porn - but many porn "actors" do porn as a sideline and have other areas of work. Not all porn stars are escorts. And most porn stars have a limited shelf life. One former gay porn star in the US is now a microbiologist with peer reviewed academic publications. Go figure.

    Lingering prudery plays a role in why Irish porn has never taken off - but I think it's more down to the fact that we're a small country and people would know if someone close to them was in porn and the gossip plus the fact that Ireland is just not seen as a "sexy" place to do a porn flick compared to, say, California or the Greek Islands.

    Riding on the bonnet of a Beemer in the drizzle of Longford just doesnt have quite the same appeal as doing the deed by an azure infinity pool in Mykonos or Malibu.

    Average monthly income in Czech Rep is 1000e. I imagine if you're doing a job and potentially raking in money then the 'how' is glossed over.

    Also, I'd be interested to know how many are actually Czech. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from any of the EE countries.

    I used to date one of the Suicide Girls, who did a lot of stripping and previously did a lot of girl-girl cam stuff. From her experience, and her other SG mates it is nothing to do with lack of money, most do porn because it is very good money. It guarantees travel because there is always an international audience of rich guys who will pay to fly you out, for dates - which is where the real money is made. Why work a 9-5, when you can literally have people throw money at you while you sit in a bedroom?

    I'd imagine these men act as security more than jailers. If I remember correctly there has been pretty much no convictions for forced prostitution in Ireland ever.
