Urgently looking for 1 or 2 Point of Lay (or thereabouts) Perkins, any colour but white.
We have a mid sized urban garden in which we have kept 2 hens for a number of years. Our original hen died last night (she was 7!) and the one remaining hen is lost/confused/lonely (not to mention upset family)
We are in Athenry but would drive up to an hour to get some new companions for our lonely lady :-(
    Can anyone help?

introducing a new hen to an existing hen could go wrong - the existing hen could bully the incoming hen to assert herself as top hen - so be prepared for some bullying.
Keeping two hens is as you have found out, NOT a good idea (well done on the age of your hen by the way!) - always get minimum of 3 so that you arent left with one lonely one when one dies. Google pekin breeders and you will get some lists - have a look on irishfowl.com and irish-poultry.com - you might be lucky. But it doesnt have to be a pekin again - your lonely hen wont care about the breed! and do consider getting two or three - your 7 year old probably wont last very much longer!

We got a pair of 3 month old hens a couple of weeks ago, found them on DoneDeal, lovely birds. Introduced them gently, all good so far. But the three are still in the run - I’ll be interested to see what happens when I let them out to range around the garden ðŸ˜႒

Try Irishfowl.com, it's a website with info on upcoming sales, sellers, looking for..., etc.

    Best of luck.
