I think most people are very sympathetic to the homeless, most of us know that it could be us or a loved one stuck for a place to live. Most people support helping those who help themselves, giving them the help they need to get back on their feet.

This one though is taking the piss and manipulating the media to skip the queue. She's a chancer. It's hard to.have any sympathy for someone with no sense of responsibility.

The media are quite happy to play along with this charade..Well able to play the game too.

You don't believe there are any genuine cases?

Drug addicts on the street yeah but families no, maybe a few where a partner has died etc

I don’t believe it’s the governments fault for the situation they find themselves in.

    It’s their fault.

How many people out there who can't have children but would love the opportunity to raise a family, and this one has the gall to use 6 children as a publicity stunt and income generator.

Ah now come on, that's complete whataboutery.

She is not flaunting her ability to have children to those who cannot have children. She is playing the system.

How many children would you allow her before it becomes an affront to childless couples?

My aunt died of cancer at 35 years of age. The mortgage on the family home was paid off by life insurance. That is how personal responsibility is done.

I would foster her children to couples who would look after them a lot better than this woman does. Making them sleep on benches in a Garda station rather than in a house in Meath was disgraceful parenting. The children should have been removed from her care there and then.

She pleaded guilty and at sentencing the Garda specifically said she was not involved in the burglary and had a small part to play in the affair i.e. absolutely not theft. It would appear you are the one who is blind or thick.

I have no sympathy with this lowlife. But why accuse her of theft when it is not true, especially when you can equally berate her with the truth.

    A small part??

Driving drunk with a load of stolen gear?????

Given what she takes in I'd say comfortably.

Not everyone owns their house. So this isn't always the case. My partner's Mother died of cancer in her early 20's and they were renting. Luckily my partner and his Dad got a council house after about 10 years on the list. So there are some genuine cases!

While a lot of people get enraged about people demanding hand outs...let's not forget the purpose of the Welfare State...to prevent anarchy.

What do you think will happen in 10-20 years with the falling baby count amongst most working people.
Yet the welfare population have no problem popping out 5+ kids.
What happens when all these kids who are now adults don't know any better and suddenly there's not enough money to keep them in their lifestyle.
Or what happens when the working class people are told you have to pay more tax so we can keep these people in the lifestyle they're accustomed to?
This is how dictatorships rise to power in most democracies. There's a common enemy to point them all towards.
eg if we have a new Hitler and he was starting out..do you think he'd target the welfare class or the millions of working class and point them towards the welfare class, the lawyers and policticians and tell them "these people are your real enemy. Elect me and I'll make sure these people get what's coming to them and you get rewarded for your work not taxed heavily etc".

Unless the government implements proper support structures down the line there's a huge backlash coming.

I dunno, in some parts of the world being the getaway driver or in possession makes you as culpable

In fairness, Ireland doesn't fund IVF, apparently we can't afford it. Her yearly benefits alone would fund 10 rounds or so... quite a few parents could welcome much wanted children they now find difficult to try for, at 5k a round and typically you need more than one. Funny how we can or cannot afford child support as a state and what we ultimately choose to fund.

Can anyone tell me of a political party that has come out at an election and said we are for the workers of the country, we see you have been done wrong by but we will fight for you.
    No!
It's all about appeasing the OAP's and we're gonna make it easier for people on benefits to survive blah blah blah
I suggest a new party made up of boards.ie members who spend their lives slogging away at work only to be told screw you you're working and doing grand

Whatever happened to a fair trial?

Did the government and Eoghan Murphy get a fair trial from the media before they printed their lies today?

    Unbelievable.

The removal of the welfare state would be the proper step forward, and replacing it with limited support with far better controls. Our current system is unsustainable, and based on the type of cases coming out within the last few years, it suggests that people want more benefits for the "disadvantaged".

We really need to be promoting personal responsibility and stepping away from the state/taxpayer picking up the tab for other peoples poor life choices. Help the genuine cases of those who truly cant help themselves (disabled, mentally ill, etc)... but others? Set them up with a job and put them to work for the benefits they "need".

    No!

Leo said he's for the people who get up in the morning and he was blasted for it.

Erica Fleming received the same treatment.

To be fair to Erica - she hadn’t any convictions for being involved in robberies

    You have my vote.
Can we have a policy to build bigger prisons and fix the justice system too?

I had to go into Pearse Garda station the Saturday before last late at night, and there were at least 8 people sleeping in the reception area in sleeping bags. Now it was a very wet night but there was no coverage of these people spending the night asleep in a Garda station.

If this woman and her children get skipped to the top of the housing list all Garda stations around the country can prepare to become refuge centres.

The trouble is we don't know who to believe any more. How many are actually homeless?
