It depends on the individual really. Like nobody is 100% hetro or homo, everyone occupies some position on the spectrum.

Eh... im 100% hetro. Only been with women. Only thought about being with women.

Nobody is 100%. High 90s yes but theres no absolute on either end

What are you talking about? That just sounds like nonsense. Are you going to tell gay people they aren't gay now as well?

Exactly. I really don’t know how the “spectrum” stuff got legs, but it’s nonsense, at best. Heterosexual and homosexual are completely separate and distinct sexual orientations, there’s no “spectrum”.

No but viewing things as absolute black and white issues is a nonsense. There's always a nuance and a grey area in between. The majority of people (gay and straight) would lean strongly towards one side or another but its an absurdity to assume there's no nuance whatsoever.

That's bull****. Stop putting your experience on everyone else.

Sure, if ye're happy living life in absolutes with everything nicely packaged into boxes without exploring the greys in between them or questioning then the more power to ye. Personally I'd find that incredibly dull and boring but everyone has their own perspective on things, it's what makes life so interesting.

My sexual orientation isn't a choice.

I was just born as a male who likes women..

We really have come full circle when i'm having to explain myself and labelled boring for being 100% straight..

You can just keep telling yourself that, if it makes you feel better.

FFS. Where are some people getting these ideas from? I get that many are not necessarily binary when it comes to sexuality, but the vast majority of men are absolutely (meaning, absolutely, total, 100%) heterosexual, as with women.

What is it with trying to convince straight people that they have to have some kind of shared defective sexuality. I’m a straight man. I’m over 40 years on this earth. I never have had and never will have any sexual urge or interest in another male (of any original or modified physical configuration) as any type of sexual partner. Same goes for women who were not born as women. I wish such people no ill will in life, but get over yourselves, FFS.

I am absolutely normal and I’ve a pain in the hole (fnarr fnarr) with muppets suggesting I’m some sort of statistical outlier through pushing the sort of crap P_1 wrote above. Give it a rest.

Yikes who pissed in your cornflakes, noone is pushing anything. It's a discussion forum, you know, where people come to share opinions and perspective

I've never felt the need nor inclination to question myself.

You might not understand that but it is what it is. Boring in your eyes. The way it is in my eyes.

You're telling us we can't be 100% straight.

It's the same as telling someone they can't be gay.

Of course it needs to be explained to you..

Worse than that, he/she is saying everyone is at least a little bit gay.

You kinda called him boring ,in a roundabout way, for not exploring his sexuality!

Would you find that an acceptable thing for a straight person to say to a gay person?
"I'm sure if you made the effort you could fancy people of the opposite sex. I personally don't think much of your CHOICE to not do so?"

Everyone's individual choice and perspective seems to be so much more interesting and the spice of life when that perspective only undermines one side of any debate on these matters.

I fully believe some people are gay and bi and trans and whatever, and fully respect to their to choose their own way without any form of judgement, but surely we can afford straight people the same respect?

Jaysis lads. All I'm saying is that if you want to label yourself that's cool, if you don't want to label yourself that's also cool. If you want to explore thats cool, if you don't want to, guess what, that's also cool.

The world is fcuked up enough without us getting ourselves bogged down in minutia. So long as you're not harming anyone with what you do then bloody well do it

Out of interest, let's say someone was 97% on this spectrum... How would that three percent manifest itself?

But that's not what I'm saying, essentially I'm saying that painting yourself into a corner isn't the best of ideas.

It likely wouldn't manifest itself in any meaningful way to be perfectly honest. Now say if somebody identified as 80% on the others hand you may see some manifestation.

It's an off the wall idea I know but at least it's got people thinking this fine sunny morning

True but one person's boring is another's exciting. Like it's one of those questions where there's no right or wrong answer, it ll depends on the perspective of the person who's answering it

I think calling someone boring for something they've no control over is a bit crappy though.

    Why ?

If you're comfortable with your sexual orientation what's wrong with stating it.

We'll see that's the thing. If you're attracted to her before you know, you're still attracted to a trans woman. Them's the facts.
