The problem with the Ruberbandits is they started as a novelty act but then they hopped aboard the sjw train in a bid to stay relevant.

For many years now I've had them hidden on fb as I don't want to hear about patriarchy and white privilege.

Spot on. Wanķers basically. I saw a bit of Blindboy on Tommy Tiernans show the other night and had to turn over. The lad talks some amount of shıte and has a ridiculous self-importance and grandiosity about him.

Fucķs sake, they made a once funny and innovative 'joke song' many years ago. Ok, Dads Best Friend was pretty cool. But really, they need to stick to the music and avoid the philosophising, it's embarassing. Maybe take the fucķing bags of the head if they want to get serious and stand up and be counted.

You get the impression that Mr. Chrome is fcuking embarrassed by it all at this stage.

I merely responded to this remark, but sure don't let that get in the way of your little ad hominem rant.

As for your charge re 'virtue signalling' and the like, well, I feel they're quite apt terms given the behavior being spoken about. Blindboy knows well there's an appetite the kind of buzzwords and terms he began using a couple of years back (like rape culture, male privilege, toxic masculinity, etc). He, like the rest of us, has seen the rise of this element of society (RTE rape culture docus and the like on prime time) and so obviously thought incorporating some of it into his spiel from time to time would be a worthwhile venture, and by jove wasn't he right, look at him now.

As recently as only a few years back the chap was seen as something of fool by most folk, only really invited on panels to give RTE and the like some measure of credibility with the youth, I'd suspect, make them appear edgy..... but now today, there's a book of his thoughts and musings on the best seller list in Easons and people are actually paying to hear him speak at festivals. You think if he hadn't endorsed the notion that Ireland has a rape culture, that there's such think as toxic masculinity, and that the patriarchy needs to be dethroned, any of this would be happening? Of course it wouldn't. LON doesn't propose to everyone ya know.

Which is why there's virtue signalling in the first place of course, as Social cache in liberal circles can result in huge societal rewards, financial ones very much among them. The opposite is also true of course, end your career as quickly as they can give it a liberal injection.

Oh, so according to you, people on Boards can be members of the PC Brigade, but not an "independent artist". Sure what sort of warped logic is that?

Replying to the part in bold. There isn’t a book of his “thoughts and musings” for sale. He has never written a book of “thoughts and musings”. He wrote a book of short stories.

He’s not pretending to be Zizek or Noam Chomsky. He wrote some stories.

If you’re going to attack the fella, at least keep the criticism real and don’t simply make stuff up.

It's No great mystery fella I don t ordinarily use boards or any social media for that matter, I originally joined years ago as there was so much **** being written about them, and since I grew up with them and knew them well I decided to call some of the **** out. I mightn t even look at the thing for 8 months and then I might get notification that a thread has started again so I might come on and comment. Sometimes its entertaining [I particularly enjoyed that Nozz guy s contribution to this thread] and sometimes Id be laughing at the ridiculousness of it. A guilty pleasure I suppose. That ok with you?

Not that it will ever happen (I understand my internalised misogyny and self hatred will bar me) but I can't think of anything worse than being admired by LON for being "woke" or indeed a "bae".

Still haven't been able to decide if a couple of posters are the lads themselves or just really devoted fanboys.

I really don't buy reams and reams (metaphorically speaking!!) of defensive posts for someone you have casually listened to once or twice.

It's Blindboy coming out with all that manure.

Don't think Mr. Chrome is anywhere near as bad for it.

Their next move should be interesting. They are 33 or so, how long more can they go with the bag on the head routine.

Will we be seeing a 65 year old Blindboy getting his annual run out on the Late Late 20 odd years from now like Twink and Linda Martin these days.

Mod: Kolten Ambitious Rodent, don't post in this thread again.

    A reminder for everyone else...
    Mod note: Enough of that!

That joke died a while back so move it along now. Any more posts like this and I will consider you to be trying to doxx a poster here and banning will be high up on the list of options open to us!

Yeah it's hard to know. I guess with the writing being well received he can continue with that regardless of the bag. I believe he is currently working on his next book.

Will be interesting to see where podcasts in general end up anyway. The bag doesn't really come into play here either and he seems to be successful with it, I believe it's topping some podcast ratings lists?

But it appears he is able to embrace new mediums and be successful. Tapes, TV, YouTube, books, podcasting so, even a spot on a movie soundtrack.. Maybe he will be able to continue this successful trend.

Once reality bites and people see the virtue-signalling nonsense for what it is, the decline of Blindboy and his ilk will be extremely quick.
