Sounds like laziness to me. All you've done is dismiss arguments you dislike while either posting Youtube videos or repeat one-liners such as the above.

I don't claim any expertise in relation to climate change. I just dislike the herd mentality of the warmists

Have you got an example from the modern era of when the majority of experts in a widely studied field got something completely wrong?

Are you serious? Ever hear of Thalidomide? Homosexuality being classed as a disease by the APA for years?

Thalidomide was the failing of one pharmaceutical company which led to more rigorous testing of all new drugs on the market and the declassification of homosexuality was brought about by an evolution of our understanding.

But the moon landings were totally fake…

None of those point to the majority of experts in a given field having an incorrect consensus on something. Thalidomide was a regulatory failure and classification is a fairly arbitrary practice.

Its shoring up his base. He people he appeals to enjoy that kind of thing so it’s a side of chips on the platter that he serves to his supporters.

What a broad, ignorant thing to say.
Many types of many different people enjoy his content. I don't enjoy climate change denial, but to be open to the idea that there is more than one side to a story is important.

He didn't imply that he knew any of what he shared was fact. I believe the point is that there is a different opinion on the matter and we should listen to both, instead of falling into the dogma.

Despite this, I still believe in man-made global warming, but the people who say that the man isn't deliberate in what he says don't seem to be able to grasp the fact that the things he gives long-winded answers for are complex issues.

    Tobacco industry?

Again, research into the dangers of tobacco have enhanced our understanding of the dangers of smoking even when vested interests in the tobacco industry have tried their hardest to frustrate attempts by governments to legislate and tax tobacco products to improve the general health of their people.

It's kind of like, I don't know, a bunch of billionaires from the fracking industry bankroll a university that isn't a university like Prager U to help them make videos about how fossil fuels are great, solar power is rubbish and man-made climate change is a myth.

It does show that the there was a mistake made and understood to be the general consensus for many years before corrected.

It was the general consensus among doctors that it was a good drug to treat morning sickness.

Same goes for the opposite side.

Its almost like, oh I don't know, the large oil reserves under control by the UAE give the Middle East more power in the near future, a power that can be combated with the improvement of renewable energy. It serves the elites that have invested in renewable energy if its a government enforced movement.

China invested so heavily into renewable energy for the same reasons, its taking power away from the countries that have a stranglehold on trade because of their reserves.

In saying this, I can't stress how important renewable energy is and will be for our planet, but if you believe its "green energy to save the planet!" you're incredibly naive.

If countries were serious about saving the environment, they would tax corporations based on their use of plastics in their products and packaging. Instead, they ban plastic straws.

Well, if it’s ignorant, is it just a coincidence that it’s also true? You’re a prime example of what I said.

Phrasing it as something that will wind up the anti capitalists and Marxists (or whichever phrasing he used) was just to play to his base that it’s good because it will wind up t’other side. That’s poor stuff, but as you already said you enjoyed it (even though you said it was ignorant of me to point out that it’s the kind of thing his base enjoys)

It was the general consensus among doctors that it was a good drug to treat morning sickness.

And they were right about that. It treated it well. It was also only available for a few years and it never received FDA approval in the US. Calling that a general consensus is really stretching it.

Peterson posts a link to climate denier. Even though he’s very careful not to say he agrees with it, he has caused characters like dickswivler to go gown a rabbit hole of ‘the consensus isn’t always right’ and ‘what about Thalidomide?’

The devotion of his followers to defending anything he says is really interesting in and of itself. Peterson never even said he believed it! Lol

Jesus, you have to be the most arrogant, smug person I've ever come across on Boards. I'm not a 'follower'. I haven't even seen the video he posted. I look forward to an apology.

No no, you mean my posts are the most arrogant and smug... it’s very important to pretend you’re only attacking the post and not the poster. I wouldn’t want you getting in trouble.

Anyway do you want an apology for pointing out that Peterson has caused characters like Dickswivler to go down a rabbit hole of ‘the consensus isn’t always right’ or ‘but what about thalidomide?’? Which of those accurate statements do you want an apology for?

Okay, this is a bit of a head scratcher… you haven't watched the five minute video but you're still taking part in a discussion of the video? Are you purely doing it to be a contrarian?

My favourite part of whatever you write is the confidence that whatever sequence of words you're putting together actually means anything.

I follow Peterson. I also follow Slavoj Žižek. Both have fairly contrasting opinions and different ideas, but I would argue that when they make a good point or argument that there is a good point or argument in there.

The fact is that its a very small minority that disregard the man as a "whackjob", when the fella has put out more than 500 hours of his material on the web, not to mention the countless interviews he has done.

Surely that's enough of a litmus test of whether the man is worth listening to? Say, over some smug random on a small forum for boomers?

I'm just trying to broaden the mind of the climate cultists. I don't need to watch the video.

So you've just dumped a video that you've not even bothered watching with no idea whatsoever what its contents are. If there's a cultist here, it's yourself.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

This week Peterson shared a climate change denial video and a claim that a meat only diet cured his depression and his daughters arthritis.

Proof he isn't rational or scientific.

    More lies from 20Cent.

As an example, in regards to his diet, he stated that he is not an expert nor did any scientific research only that he followed a carnivore diet, which worked for him, again stating quite clearly its anecdotal.

I quit grains for 6 months, felt better and lost weight. Am I a quack?

He and I were both referring to the Linzden video Peterson retweeted that 20 Cent originally posted up.

I've no idea about climate change but I'll try and educate myself about the arguments and counter arguments set forward. Your standard default seems to be that the consensus must be wrong, especially if it has champions on the left.

Does any of that suggest Peterson is worth listening to on climate science? Even when he didn’t give an opinion on the video one way or the other except saying it would wind up t’other side?

    Poor show old bean.
