A little off topic but the 2017 Mercedes-Benz is available on Gran Turismo Sport racing simulation as of today.
Took it for a spin around Les Mans. :)

GT Sport is decent, but Forza Motorsport 6 and 7 kicks its ass.

I don't think anyone would have argued before Mercedes domination of the sport, that Rosberg was even close to the top tier of F1. It would be like Brundle winning a WC because Jordan happened to develop the top car.

Actually, yes - he was tipped to be a WDC in the making when he raced at Williams and most lamented him losing the win at the infamous 2008 Singapore GP. Position furthered by the three seasons he drove alongside Schumacher.

The "mediocre driver" stigma was mostly Brundle's and Sky making when he became "the enemy" because he was the only guy who could reasonably beat their beloved Lewis...

Just catching up on the thread and this stood out, especially the last paragraph

If you go back through this very forum at the time Vettel was dominating, the very same **** that's thrown at Hamilton now was thrown at Vettel back then for the simple reason that he was winning.

Yeah, that's mostly how F1 works. A dominant driver is usually disliked, particularily by fans who haven't pinned their colour to any one mast.

I would say it's a little different with Lewis. His off-the-track personality and general antics don't lend a lot of neutrals to like him, dominant driver or not.

No, but that's because it's only available in the land of unicorns and pixies. He's a bull**** merchant

Why is the williams car wearing #41?
Might be a stupid question, but that number is not listed on the F1 list of numbers assigned.

There are dedicated numbers assigned to test drivers for each team, I think it's Oliver Rowland in the Williams today. The number stays the same regardless which test / development driver is int he car.

Why is that guy getting airtime from Motorsport.com? A simple Google search shows nothing of interest or fact. Purely a waste of time.

I think those in the know, know this guy is as crazy as he looks.

Hopefully FOM have a say in who buys the team, or at least give good advice (don't trust this guy)

He already said the judges did not allow to buy the team for legal reasons. So no danger that he actually buys the team. It is either a marketing gag to promote Rich Energy, Vijay use them to push the price for the team or he is selling himself to increase his network.

Vijay wants a better deal for sure, and I think he sees a restructuring of how the prize money is handed out and wants to hold out for that.

He is a shady character as it is, this isn't helping him either.

All of the above, everything he's done is to promote his made up energy drink brand that nobody has ever seen. If he does ever actually make some, he'll probably shift loads of it with all the free press he's had. Vijay was clearly complicit as he was getting free press for the rumours of a purchase, trying to up the price. The judge laughed it out the door as "not credible"

    Red Bulls turn.

I like the simplicity, I would prefer if the wing was narrower though, and higher, ala 2008/2007

Amazing! I often wondered why Matchbox versions of F1 cars aren't launched every season; I know when my kids were smaller I'd have bought loads of them! They have all the Lightning McQueen cars, so these would've been cool to have.

    Great looking models.

Was there always a prohibition order on companies forbidding them from putting the tobacco companies logo's on cars even back then?

    Is the #28 Ferrari Alboreto's from 1988?

I have those Marlboro logo's on one of my Jordan models.

The Ferrari in the photos above would be around '84/'85.

Marlboro on a Jordan? Somewhere between 91-95?

Correct. It's on my Jordan 195.

Looks more like the F1/87 or F1/87/88 to me. #28 was Gerhard Berger though.

I'd definitely collect them if so. I've often thought about collecting all the championship winning cars in high quality/detail 1:18's or something, but sense gets the better of me each time :D

As for these ones, they're not Matchbox, but decent sized Burago's, 1/24 scale. The cars themselves are:

    Benetton Ford B188 (1988/89)
    Lotus 97T (1985)
    Williams FW08 (1982)
    Ferrari 126 C4 (1984)
