Cleaned and pic with new chain and cassette.

looks well, but did you not get a warning about that bar tape?

That's a bute but my eyes burned when I saw the wasps nest under the saddle :(

Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Mini doesn't come with a mount so someone made a 3D print mount that fits in place of a bottle cage. I just got it printed:
looks well, but is that bolted to one or both bottle cage mounting points?

When I get another half a stone off the jerseys will be a little more forgiving and the contents will then go into my pockets. 2 tubes and 2 Co2 cannisters is all that's in it

It saves having to mount a light on the frame, it allows the red rear to clip in.

you mean on the rubbery plastic tag on it? i managed to rip mine half off, the stitching holding it on failed.

Storage bottle people. It's the way forward, pretty sure it's also allowed by the velominati.

The stitching on mine was coming away but I glued it back.

I only go with one bottleholder though and the one in the pic is soon to be discarded for a new one that is much nicer and will be ok to bolt to the downtube too

Pleasant bike maintenance evening. Old hack got new BB, cassette and chain, along with gear re-indexing and general tune up. Rose CX got new hood covers as the old ones were slipping something rotten. All surprisingly easy for a change, without a single expletive issued which is practically unheard of for my bike maintenance sessions.

I would have thought there's a high probability of that ripping a lovely hole in your frame at some point. If it made use of both bolts it would be better imo.

Nothing major, finally got a bottleholder that fits on the downtube. Need a smaller bottle though, I'm fed up buying bottles all the time, I rinse them, leave them on the sink to dry then housemate puts them into the dishwasher to ruin them for me.

The stitches (and now scar) in my back from keys after a crash, tell me to f*ck the rules. Plus, 1 bottle isn't enough in this heat anyway.

    well, that was an anticlimax.
took some pedals off my old road bike that have not been off in at least 13 years, i think. i was expecting to need sledgehammers and fire, and to bring it down to the priest to bless, but they came off with no fuss whatsoever.

It uses the two bolts. With a Hexlox to stop my bike-lock-mount from being stolen.

Damage is definitely a worry/consideration. TBH, I don't know much about estimating forces or knowing what is tolerable. I had to buy longer bolts to fit it, and I assume they are longer than the socket, although I don't know for sure and don't know how to know. For the most part, I'm just riding on the road. I'm not even sure if wear-and-tear is applicable here, or if "it's worked so far" is enough to assume it will work indefinitely. It could be re-printed to match the curve of the bike itself, which should remove some leeway, thus stress. The fact that Kryptonite themselves don't sell something like this is a bit worrying! I'd appreciate anyone who knows a bit weighing in.

I tried to fit one of these JRC FACEPLATE to my Fizik stem last night but when fitted as per instructions the bars were still slightly loose.

Maybe i did something wrong but what seemed an easy task become pure frustration as i started this 45mins before a club spin!!!!

It looks too big to me. I have the proper bar fly one and the piece that holds it behind the face plate is much smaller than that

I don't get what you mean.

i fitted with shims as per picture and it just doesn't lock in, i wonder do the shims need to be sit in a recessed bolt hole rather than flush?

Can you upload closer pic's of the barfly one please? I was too stingy to pay €50 for one as the button clearance on the 520 was questionable.

Sorry my mistake. I just seen the last picture now.the barfly mounts under the face plate so it's different.

Think I paid 35 for my one delivered from sigma sports. Works perfect with the 520

I have a GUB version I bought on Aliexpress a year ago. I fitted it using the lower stem bolts not the top ones. It’s rock steady as are the bars.

In other news today I removed the 6800 crankset from my bike and cleaned and regreased the BB. I also removed the freewheel on my Fulcrum wheels and cleaned and lightly oiled the pawls. I swear to god the bike is easier to pedal now as the BB was installed 4 yrs ago and has never been touched since. It wasn’t that dirty but retaining nut on the NDS crank was stupidly tight which meant the crank arm was tightened too much against the bearing and so with it cleaned and the nut fitted only have tight the cranks spin backwards so much freer now.

I also lobbed 70mm off my Superzero seatpost, no point having dead weight on the bike when it’s not needed.

Did you need to use the shims? Set mine again and while it's tight now it looks just a fraction too far out.

Double wrap your bar tape too. Works very well.

My saved from a skip felt is completely stripped down now, plan is to just clean everything up and replace all cables, chain and BB but now I'm thinking I might chop, weld n' single speed it. I have my Scott Speedster 40 if I need something with gears over the winter. I'm on the fence but my commute is only 6kms each way

You shouldn't need to do any chopping to singlespeed it so long as you have a chain tensioner. There's a lot to be said for it in terms of ease of maintenance and if your commute is only 6km e/w you'll be laughing provided you choose the right gearing.
